These?.....
The Moors In Spain (incomplete lyrics to a song posted by Prince in the Vs room of the NPGMC website 20th May 2003) If this great African culture were alive 2day We’d b 400 years more advanced From Arabia they came 2 blossom in Spain And 2 the beat of the drum they danced Masters of the Arts and all industry While France, England and all Germany Wallowed in the mire of their own bigotry The Moors were the ones who were truly free Civilization came 2 Europe thru the Greek Who were simply Africans who came from the Nile The Greeks gave it 2 Rome who lost their way home And it stayed that way 4 quite a while Under their own misconception of Christianity The barbaric (?) Europeans suffered greatly While the Catholic Church was staking it’s claim The Moors were making great gains Introducing strawberries, lemons and sugarcane Algebra, chemistry from the Moors this all came Their contributions 2 knowledge, 2 numerous 2 name While in Europe there were no public libraries, the Moors in Spain Had 70, 600 thousand manuscripts and 17 universities Not hardly a prisoner in the mind of society In the Spain the Moors were once truly free The one who is most gifted cannot lead the way in a world that never respected authority… The sword of the Moor would have never left its sheath if the longhaired barbarian who opposed them would have only seen That 2 win a war against the so-called “black infidels” Brings about a peace that cannot last But I guess all’s well that ends well… well it ain’t over Enjoy.....

You know...
The Roman Emperor, Septimius Severus was black and he ruled the Roman Empire between the years 193 to 211. As the Roman Empire encompassed England at that time, we can safely say that England was once ruled by a black man. http://www.nationalarchiv...romans.htm

i wonder if he wrote those lyrics in a pink fluffy album and perhaps Mani put some nice flower and puppy stickers with the text to make it all look pretty and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

"the rtist knows all and sees all, I AM. all praise 2 Larry"

Thanks for Reprinting that Neouveou. And if anyone wants to see where Prince got his inspiration from I recommend three books(none of which were written by Larry Graham):
1) The Story of the Moors in Spain by Stanley Poole 2)The Story of the Moors After Spain by Stanley Poole 3) Another books about Moors, the title slips me by Ivan Van Sertima (Professor at Rutgers University) Also read the reviews at Amazon.com. Very interesting indeed. A lot of posts here seem to suggest that you were offended and that Prince needs to check his history. May I suggest that we also check the history we were thought. Because history as we have been thought it(especially in the USA, but generally everywhere), has been littered with glaring omissions and blatant lies. To All the Haters on the Internet

Thanks for reprinting the lyrics, Neouveou. Can't believe I'd forgotten about that song. The whole thing is on point and documented. Well done by Prince.

Prince had a moment and felt the need to share it with everyone. Was his internal editor sleeping on the job that day? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Hmmm. Let's see. Prince wrote "We March", "Muse to the Pharoah", "Family Name","Superhero". "Uncle Sam", "When will we be Paid" and many more. I would say Prince had more than a moment. He woke up. As for his internal editor, I think he got rid of that on the "Dirty Mind"album. Seriously, I have always admired the fact that Prince speaks his mind. Whatever the topic may be sex, politics,race..he lets it out in his lyrics. >>>>> Much props to you. The name of the book is The Golden Age of the Moors by Ivan Van Sertima. i don't think anyone is displeased that prince is getting in touch with his black history. what's gross about it is that he feels the need to put other cultures and their heritage down while he's making his point. this topic has been discussed to death. back when prince first foisted these lyrics on us there were pages of arguments up in here over whether or not prince is justified dismissing european cultures as being that of 'long haired barbarians' who were 'wallowing in the mire of their own bigotry'. this is why folks criticize his grasp of history. he seems to be more than a little bit baised toward the moors and does a rather poor job of evaluating european culture in that he dismisses it as that of barbarians. NOT to mention that when the moors 'came to spain' they raped and pillaged their way into that country. they were bloody conquerors and i'd love to know how prince decided THAT kind of behavior was NOT 'barbaric'? Still they make new arqueological founds from that times. Shortly, in the city I am, they did found an Islamic cementary. All looked in to the Mekka. One of theyr precieus richdom they let here in Elche is: El Palmeral. Thausends of palms, once a Sultan did make Europas Oasis from. The Palmeral got the designation as a World Heritage Site in 2000. Today, the palms are in danger because of the: Picudo rojo/ (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) That beast eats the palms from inside! But I didn't new, Prince was singing about that.
