June 16 in Prince history - U Got The Look video filmed June 16, 1987 - U Got The Look video filmed
Did anyone else think that seemed out of place in the SOTT movie? I would have prefered a live performance.

I did attend the shooting of the video.
It was in Palais Omnisport de Paris. God!It was hot and it took almost all day! But in between the shootings, Sheila, Eric and Prince did some jams...my,my, my, thank you to make me think about it again...I agree with you, it should have been done live. As a result of listening to the song all day during the shooting, I was unable to listen to it for almost 2 years!!!

Like what songs they jammed? Was it a full concert thing or was it just the video crew and some audience members? Anything different we didn't see in the video? Etc. I hope you can!

Well, it was a long time ago but I will try to remember.
In fact, there was not many people, only the first rows to make it look like a real concert. The video was shooted on the only day without concert at Bercy, they had given us some kind of "invitation" the previous night at the show, telling us to come the next day. We were queuing outside (for quite a long time) and then they let us in, it was scary to go in such a big building, usually filled with noise and music and people, but so quiet that day... As I told you, only the first rows were filled, we turned back and we saw Prince, sitting and waiting for us to be installed...back in 1987, it was really something to see him so close!! Well, to tell you the truth, we were all excited at the beginning but after 322 breaks and 300 "U got the look intro, and 540 "Let's do it again", we became kind of blasé and tired so we started to be relax and we were shouting at P. to play something, instead of remaining seated...(most of the time he was sitting there when the video was played to be checked). We even sang Housequake to him (He liked it). They didn't do no songs, only jams and the dancers moved on the jams one after the other. We were shouting at Sheila E. when she arrived (remember the outfit in the video!!!)Eric Leeds signed autographs... Remenber when P. put his guitar between the girl's legs...he found it on the spot(and discuss it with people here: And if I do that would it be cool... Noone was really impressed by Sheena Easton, she was there screaming most of the time for her assistant to come, we even made fun of her, imitating her voice to call her assistant (can't remember his name... but... who cares...) At the end of the day (yes, it took all afternoon and evening!!!) I made it home with my friends and 2 Prince bodyguards, they were locals hired only for the day!!!) That week, I even managed to NOT attend the concert at Le New Morning DAMN!!!I was outside with no tickets ( tickets hed been sold under the name of Madhouse...)and I saw the man arrived(very late.) What happened the day the U got the look video was shot??? Two things: - I disliked the song for quite a while ... - I fell madly in love with Sheila E.
