17 years ago tonight Oct 30, 1988. I was there and what a great show it was. Man, when they started playing shit from the Black albumn....never knew what it was until a year later. That was just some crazy stuff. What a show that was. One of the best ever. Glad I could go!!!!

DETROIT - WHAT'S HAPPENING!!

Unfortunately I was not there but in college in Pennsylvania up in Erie, PA. A bunch of us from Edinboro traveled down to Pittsburgh on Oct. 29 (or was it Oct. 28?) in 1988 to catch the Lovesexy gig at The Igloo/Mellon Arena.

First Prince concert ever attended -- up the rafters (NEVER AGAIN!) -- and it was pure awesome, although at the time I was still getting into Prince and didn't really know his early stuff (pre-1999).

The weeks leading up to the gig a college classmate at the school's radio station (where I worked at) gave me a cassette copy of I Wish U Heaven/Scarlett Pussy 12-inch. Lo and behold, Prince and the band plays the entire I Wish U Heaven/Take This Beat 1,2,3 during the second half of the concert.

Select joints from The Black Album were played - a major plus because, at the time, I knew of The Black Album and its tracks. As well, there was an official afterparty I did not attend, but a fellow collegemate did. It was an afterparty -- no performance -- but I was already heading back to the campus.

Ah, the memories.
