and "Krush Groove", Ps voice is also all over third album, the one with"Koo Koo"

What does Krush Groove have to do with anything? Esp her 3rd album? That was a self-titled album.

she was mimicking Prince in Krush Groove

I disagree...their voices almost blend together. I think it's hard to
hear him, but once you know he's there, that's when he stands out.
I didn't know it until Kasey Kasem told me....lol

Shaggy? I didn't know it was Casey's voice til Prince told me...

Back to the original question:

Does anyone know if this was done on purpose or was it a guiding track Prince recorded to help Sheila sing the song?

Of course it was on purpose.

Sheila did not like the Jamie Starr tactics on her first album. So on the second album, even though Prince's input again was substantial, at least he got some credits for the work he did, like guitar and bass credits on A Love Bizarre and Toy Box and vocals on A Love Bizarre and Yellow.

Of all Prince Satellites, Prince and Sheila have had an unconditional friendship. She has been playing with and for him so long.

I am sure that he loves her so much, he gave her A+ material, like A Love Bizarre.

You know, I always thought that Prince's voice was suppose to be the "guide" so to speak regarding the flow of the song. I think that is why his voice overpowers all other vocals at times. I remember listening to The Time and hearing Prince's voice all through it. Just like the Vanity 6 album. nod

I think they had a talk and Sheila told Prince she did not want to hide his input. I think A Love Bizarre is sumthing of a 'coming out' song where they decided to just make it something of a duet.

Well, their first album together had been one that was hush hush on Prince's input, even though everybody knew.

I once read somewhere that Sheila did not like that much, so I am sure that is why the second time around she wanted it different.

It might also have to do with the fact that Love Bizarre is an ace song. Prince might have wanted to show off. It's in his nature.

The werid thing is on her 3rd album, they went back to 1st album tactics

1/2 the songs are by P, and the other 1/2 by Sheila and her co-writers.

But Koo Koo is like Kiss Part #2 so most people knew or suspected

If you caught the NAACP awards earlier this year.... Sheila E sung The Glamorous Life. She was a bit off, but Prince was openly singing backup and it was clear that he was helping her get back on track. It sounded like the same blend as in the album.

Not that I'm faulting Sheila.. she's not really a singer and she was banging the hell out of the drums at the same time.

smile

Unfortunately, my DVR box crashed and my recording of that is gone now, but I watched it like 3 times and I dont' remember her being "off". Sheila is not a singer like Patti, but she can definitely sing and has had her moments (Forever In My Life in SOTT movie).

I thought it was cool that Prince was openly singing his part which he did on the record.

I thought she stole show on that performance..... the same thing happened at Musicology NYC last night.

You can buy the NAACP performance on npgmc.com for $2.

BTW... i was at the last night of the NYC Musiciology date. It was off the hook and Sheila brought down the house. Remember, we kept clapping for more after each song until she didn't have anything left to play that she'd planned that night .. .she was beaming and dropped her sticks as if to say, "Guys, I've given you all I got planned for tonight. I love you too!"
Come here, babe.. yeah...

Hmmmm...i'm not a member, but i'm using Mac at home.....so even if I join it won't work right? (I' heard NPGMC is only for Windows but I could be wrong).

I'm itchign to buy a new iPod with video so I'd love to get this video for it. Wonder if iTunes will sell it.

Coolness! we were both there...maybe we saw each other smile

Yeah that was unbelievable. I was so happy whenshe came out, although I had "a feeling" it was gonna happen (meaning Sheila was going to show up). But it was great to see the rest of MSG give her the props she deserves!

I wish she would play NYC like she does Cali.

Prince sings background on manymany songs.
On many songs that most people thought it was vanity, sheila, wendy, lisa,or etc..singing on it.. It is actually Prince singing loudly on the bg vocals
He has a strong falsetto voice. He can actually sing:)

He is a gifted musician.

On some of The Time's songs, I can hear Prince better than Morris
He's pretty audiable on most of his "related-artists projects"
If you will, so will I
