If only the live version still had that ultra-funky, high-pitched wahwah guitar or keyboard or whatever the heck it is that is making those quirky sounds, I'd agree.

I think Prince thought this was better live too - he released three different live versions of it over the two years after TRC was released - the first was the Xenophobia Celebration version released as a free MP3 on NPGMC in 2002 (back when we all thought we'd be getting an official 7CD set of the shows... - in fact, the end of the track has Prince saying "Xenophobia - coming soon to a monitor near you..."); the second was the ONA Live version from Lakeland included on the Days Of Wild Montreal single and on ONA Live; the third was on the Live At The Aladdin DVD - my favorite of the three - I could watch that on repeat for hours... | |

Some of the last performances from the ONA tour are weak as duck though. I have the Tokyo live on video-CD and that one especially. Eeew.... disgustingly lazy. | |

I love the album version...it has a nice vibe...some weird key/gtr effects...and it reminds me of Erotic City... The live version is great for dancing, but I prefer studio... |
