How to you organize your music collection? How do you all organize your music collection? I've ripped all my Prince CDs to MP3 format, organized all of it in iTunes on my Mac, and now have one-click access to any song in my entire CD collection. I can also shuffle all the tracks, organize them into playlists, etc. There's something like 4 days, 20 hours and then some of non-repeat Prince tunes. Gotta love it. I have considered doing the same thing. Does that eat up a lot of your hard drive space?

Depends on how you encode your MP3s. I did mine as high-quality (256 kbps), and a typical album ranges from 90-120 MB. So, yeah, it can eat up hard drive space. Storage is cheap, though...60 GB drives are below $100 now. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

I have just started organizing my collection. It's going 2 take me 4ever. It took me 9 days just 2 put my magazine collection 2gether. I keep it on my PC, and a hand written log. I have far too much music to keep on my computer.
I keep it all in alphabetical order by artist (I have to, otherwise I'd lose albums, or end up buying them twice).

I have about 4000 albums on vinyl and about 1000 45's all in a beautiful IKEA-shelf designed for books. I hate IKEA, but I love them for making that shelf.
I would never start to put all that music on a computer file. would take me ages... "Peace and Benz -- The future, made in Germany"

...Well, that might be OK if you are disabled or something. Sorry, but I still enjoy myself picking up myself some good records and playing 'em on my turntable or CD.

My tapes i have in a cupboard(?) which is also the desk for my HIFI installation. The few records i have stand in mine bookcollection on the lowest shelf. For mine CD's i recently fixed something new. On CD size made wooden coffins (open on one side for 50 or 100 CD's ,can be hanged vertically and horizontally. Painted in bright colors alike a little Mondriaan (dutch painter with stripes and more) ,i am proud of myself. CD,s were never organised ,now they are
In the near future (i am not in a hurry) i will get me a portable MD which already has this special feature that they can compress 4 times as more on 1 md disc. However i cannot use it at home on my installation then ,nice for portable use.
