The Universal Love mix, on the maxi-single and a favorite of the Reflection room over at NPGMC, is one of my favorite remixes of any Prince track.

pretty much all versions of space are cool. mainly because the song itself
is a solid, hugely overlooked gem that stands out even amongst all of the
other top tunes Prince wrote.

it's hard to choose a fav amongst the different versions because they all
have so much going for them on their own terms.

The "Universal Love" remix is almost another song and it's such a groove!!
Until "The Rainbow Children", I kept wondering where he had lost his gift
for songcraft. I often listened to this song thinking "Damn, where is the
man who wrote these kind of tunes for a single b-side??"

On the other hand the acoustic remix is just absolutely beautiful with all
the pretty guitar strumming and the stripped down delivery.

However, let's not throw away the album version smile Damn, that's as fine a
song as they come. I love it to bits. Still play it regularly. One of his
prime efforts!

I second that. Like the Universal Love mix but the acoustic is just such a mellow groove.

Isn't there a version that samples "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" or am I thinking of the wrong tune?

It's sooooo beautiful. I really think it could've been a big hit for him with this version.

Thanks. Now I remember that I had a boot of it. It's not great, but it's not bad either.
