Is there anything about Prince that you don't like or haven't liked?

One thing that I've learned since first logging on to prince.org is that it's alright for me not to like everything the man has done and I can still be a huge fan of his. We all obviously enjoy the man and his music but has there been anything that Prince has or hasn't done that's made you go disbelief? For me, the one thing that stands out is Prince and his promotion or lack of promotion for his music. I know I shouldn't compare him to others but when I look at other artists like Madonna or MJ and how they promote their stuff, I can't help but wonder why Prince doesn't go big with his albums, Purple Rain, D&P and Musicology (even that wasn't the way it should have been), excluded. I've loved his music since I was in Kindergarten and I've always thought that Prince's music should be exposed in every area. When I think of an album like The Gold Experience, I get irked sometimes because I can only imagine what it would have been like if Prince had properly promoted the CD when it finally was released, not to mention the mess with WB that kept on delaying it. Why not have a video debut in the middle of prime time TV? He deserves to have specials done on him on MTV, VH1 or BET when a new CD drops but now that Prince is an independent artist, I don't know how that would work, even though WB wasn't on with him like they were Madonna.

What about you? Maybe it was him not releasing a certain song, or his name change or the websites controversy. Put it all here!

Peace
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The Revolution break-up. I admit that I sort of liked the NPG and his whole 'hip-hop' switch, but I didn't like it as much as I wanted to because of the fact it just didn't seem like him.

The way he controlled and curtailed talented individuals in the Time, and all of his proteges, could they not say "nip off pipsqueak, this is MY album". Trouble was no Prince input + no record deal.

I think to the way he treated band members and employees of his, alot of band memebers lasted only a few years, he paid scale mostly, fired people 4 minor intransgences, and was great at imposing fines.
He sacked talented people too, like Dez (Andre walked), Lisa and Wendy, Brown Mark, Bobby Z, Cat etc and the biggest two Jam and Lewis (although they would have left anyway)

Also hes an erratic motherfucker, we have to put up with shit like Graffiti bridge and Chaos and Disorder for every 1999 and S.O.T. And albums with great tracks next to uncontrived filler. His early albums display a consistency later ones lack.

Also he dosen't exactly love his fans much, (acknowledge me motherfucker!), or the media (probably not so bad.....

lol BUT! Thats why I love him, Prince is original, so in ur face and so I don't give a fuck,, he can and will wrap u around his finger (Hah hah Princelings, heres the next album, search for the good songs...). I mean some who does this shit, why would one become a big fan.. they love it.
Prince dosen't need to change, theres enough to put u off Prince to make him sound 'attractive'

I hate that he has embraced this Jehovah Witness bull crap I really wish he would search deep within and let this stuff go. I am really hurt by this because I always viewed him to be a person who was not easily persuaded. It seems Larry Graham brian washed him with this religion and I really wish he would wake up and smell the true flavor!!! He is too strong of a man to be wrapped up in this religion he had the truth before Larry came into his life. He was about spirituality not religion he knew the difference.

He still is the man though and will go down in history as a musical genius. I wish he would have a child so they could carry on his legacy when he is gone cool

I'm not too keen on the JW religion either, but I am glad he embraced some kind of religion. I wish he would embrace something else that's not like a cult. Look at it this way he says it keeps him out of "trouble". I've said this before he could've got caught up like Michael Jackson and had allegations against him and going through a 5-month trial that has damaged his reputation.

Alot of folks thought Prince would be the one caught up in a scandal. Be glad they was wrong.

Offhand, I hated Prince's rap phase. Y'know with Tony Moseley as front man and all that. Bad decision. Songs like Sexy MF, Daddy Pop, Alphabet Street and others would sound so much better without the rap. Undisputed, of course, doesn't fall into this category.

To me, the most annoying thing Prince has done is putting the entire Lovesexy album on one track.

Yeah I agree there, BUTT, his 1st piece of rap bashing "Dead on it" is probably his best and only listenable rap. Next most bearable "Pussy Control"
