What was the last Prince CD you would have bought as a first Prince CD? In otherwords, What was the last Prince CD that, if you weren't already a fan, you would have probably bought i.e. how many CD's have you bought just because you were already a fan? Would you have bought Musicolgy on it's own from another artist?
I think the last CD that would have gottem me on the Prince train was Rainbow Children and then I would ahve gotten the rest of his stuff and been quite suprised. Just as a disclaimer this is speculation since I remember calling radio stations to play 1999 and thinking the greatest day was the day a new Prince 12" was released. Heck a new album exited me for the potential for new 12" mixes and new B-sides.The Album was just there to give a hint of the direction he was going. It was all about the B-sides.

Well, I got 1999 back in '83 based on two songs and two videos: "1999" and "Little Red Corvette." The last time a Prince album came out with that kind of excitement, radio airplay, videos, etc. would've been the album, and that was 13 years ago. Just seeing the videos and hearing the songs for "7" and "The Morning Papers" would've made me a fan back then, if I hadn't been already. But nothing since '92 has gotten as much airplay -- not in my area anyway. Gold a little. Emancipation a little. And then Musicology a little. But that's it. So yeah, is the last album that would've made me a new Prince fan.
