Josh Homme's "It"...

... Am I right in thinking this is the best cover of a Prince song - marginally ahead of the Austin Does Prince "Girls and Boys" which is hysterical - ?

I think the best cover of a Prince song has to be Tevin Campbell's Shh.

close second would be Cyndi Laupers When u were Mine.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

You're all wrong! Best cover of a Prince song is Self's "Gotta Stop (Messing About)" nod

the best cover of a Prince tune is still

Sinead o Connor "Nothing Compares 2 U"

hands down, that's the winner here bow

no matter how many people claim to prefer the Family version
or Prince's own half baked take on TheHits/TheBsides. anyone
with half an ear must realise that this is the best and most
haunting rendition of a Prince song by any other artist ever

and don't talk back mad

In answer to the question at the top of the link: yes, I am talking about Josh Homme. The version is on a CD single of "Crawl Home", taken from the Desert Sessions 9&10. Soory, I don't have a link for the song, but it is awesome... and better than Sinead's version of Nothing... (The Family's version is far superior).
