The Usher disc certainly sold more. It sucked dog balls, but it still sold more.

Answer the REAL question: Which is the better album? Record sales does NOT gauge that and that is what matters to anyone who does not get paid from record sales - which is most people. Even Usher knows that on his BEST day he cant make an album that is better than anything Prince ever did.

People look at the oscars,superbowl,olympics and other events because it is something to do. No one really cares about that stuff. How many artist have won tons of Grammies and sold millions of records only to never be heard from again.

In the long run the public decides who is talented by continuing to go to the concerts and buy the CD's 10 and 20 years down the road. I don't really see Usher having the kind of 25 year plus career that Prince has had.
