Listen, you need to realize that what most radio stations play is not as all based on what listeners want to hear. It is based on how much $$$$$ record companies stand to make/put out there for an act- then the act will get played. Request Prince all you want, but until a record company/radio station really wants him to be on the radio, he won't be.

Today, there are music recordings, such as CDs, vinyl and digital formats such as mp3. These enable us to listen to a particular song, as many times as we wish, as long as we possess these recordings.

Therefore purchase said recordings, and you will no longer need to hear them on the radio.

Fact!

Radio stations are by in large corporately owned (Clear channel etc.) They have formats that they have to stick to. Meaning, a typical top 40 station has a rotation of approximately 20 songs that they are going to stick to. Sure, DJ's take requests, but DJ's don't pick the play list, nor will they play a request if it is not in their format already. Many radio stations don't even have their DJ's program the songs-it's all done on computers now.

You can request Prince all day and night and they might play "kiss". However, radio stations, by in large, are going to play whatever record labels pay them to play.

It's not like the old days of Wolfman Jack and different sounds/music in different parts of the country.

Music is a sacred thing, but it has become corrupted by money and the love for money. It's mostly buisness now and it's rare to find someone who makes PURE music. It's the sad truth!! And the radio stations are just another way to make money from music. Thats why i dont bother to listen to the radio, and if i do it's only a talkshow i like not music.
