If Prince handed me a Watchtower, I would probably convert right their on the spot....what better story to share with your fellow JW's and others that i would eventually try to convert also than to say that Prince showed me the light....Welcomed me 2 the Dawn personally 'Love will be your Soldier' - Nikka Costa

question: if someone other than a celebrity were to come up to you and offer you a watchtower or what-not, would you be as quick to convert?

u'd convert without even knowing what it all entails? im not a JW but i have a few friends who are. some of the basics
1.u cannot associate with people who arent witnesses because "worldly people" are not considered part of Jehova's Kingdom and not one of the 144,000 chosen, family included 2. u cannot accept or give any kind of transfusion of blood 3.u must "service" meaning knocking on door's they actually call it ( doing the work) but u have to be baptised to do that. 4. if you ever plan on leaving the witnesses, u have to write a letter to the elder of your Kingdom hall for permission to leave the congregation, its up to the elder where u can stay or go. now some of ya'll correct me if im wrong, im always willin to be schooled and or corrected.

My friends...i thought it was clear....ummm, I WAS joking?.....anyway, the way i see it he is not following the letter of the law when it comes to the JW's....I remember MJ having a problem and eventually haveing to leave the Witnesses because of his having all the adulation from people around the world.....performing for personal adulation is against the JW's teachings.....
umm edit ....I believe... [Edited 10/21/05 7:49am] 'Love will be your Soldier' - Nikka Costa

question: if someone other than a celebrity were to come up to you and offer you a watchtower or what-not, would you be as quick to convert? I had 2 Jehovah's come to my door this weekend to "talk" to me and they gave me a Watchtower (which I proceeded to throw away). I was sooooo tempted to ask them about Prince, but I didn't). And last night 2 Mormons knocked on my door to "spread the word of Jesus Christ." I thought: "What the hell, does my house look like den of iniquity?!"

I grew up with some friends whose mother was JW...and she was EXTREMELY devote, but believed she was not one of the 144,00o that would be going.

This reminds me of the time this wild beast of a woman came up to me and shouted "ARE YOU BURT REYNOLDS? CAN I HAVE YOUR AUTOGRAPH?"
I simply replied to her "I AM Burt Reynolds, and I don't do autographs. But I can give you something better." So I reached into my pocket and pulled out a thing of half melted, linty Rolos and put it into her shaking palm. We made a love so powerful that night, that the moon itself cracked in seven places. ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

to be totally Honest, thats a ignorant assessment of someone's faith, i wouldnt call it "obsessed" but when one aquires new knowledge one is compelled to share with others, but respect the other's interest in that knowledge.ya dig?

I believe your story Gohi. Your father must've gotten Prince on a good day. I've heard stories of him totally ignoring people who've asked him for autographs. She and her husband were walking in the airport and her husband said "Is that Prince?" and she looks and sure enough it is the short lil fella. Her husband thinks that he can get away with asking Prince for an autograph. She protests and thinks that it'll just make him mad. Her husband moves on, leaving her no choice but to follow. So the guy walks up to Prince and asks: " Hi Prince! Can I get an autograph!" to his wife's embarassment. So Prince says: " Eye'm sorry, eye don't do autographs... but eye can give u something better" and Prince pulls out a Watchtower and hands it to him before turning around and walking away with his posse'. - - - Sorry if that was hard to read. Kinda busy.

Its probably true, Prince is a committed witness. Apparently in the early days Prince did do autographs, but signed them "Love God".
I wouldn't convert but could respect his beliefs, live and let live I say. It must put off us gay fans, as sects like Jehovahs witnesses frown on homosexuality, I hope Prince dsent do a Donna Summer..... 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

At least it was cool that he actually had an interaction with the purple man! :- D I would with excitment/nervousness.
