what's prince's most moving song?

hi

I'm just wonderin' what u think is prince's most toutchin' song. What song moves you the most?

mine might be a bit strange,...'controversy'...

when he hits the chorus...do i belive in god, do i believe in me, some people wanna die so they can be free.

listen to that part... There's some sort of sadness there (especially in the intrumentals) that i can't really put my finger on. very special

so, what song touches you? let me no

The Beautiful Ones, definetly, to me.....the heartfelt enthusiasm at the end, I have never heard anyone sing more emotion than that.

Peace,

JD

For me it would have to be "Love, Thy Will B Done" . . .

I can't wait until he releases his version.

the beautifal ones always used to move me especially the last few lines like you could actually feel his pain or something..
after that it would have to be the morining papers, the whole theme of the song is so beautifal, i've loved that song since i heard it on the radio when it was released (i got a poster for it from smash hits mag and that was the only prince poster i had lol i was only a little thing then)

My choice is pretty strange also - "She's Always In My Hair"...there's something about the way he sings that song that really strikes a cord. U can tell that he was truly inspired when he did that song, that he wasn't just standing in front of the mic w/ a lyrics sheet. One of my all-time fav songs.

My second choice is "The Ladder".
By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Hands down for me it's The Beautiful Ones... the passion in the screaming at the end. I'd add a good day performance of Purple Rain where he makes the guitar cry at the end.

The song that moves me the most is Nothin Compares 2 U.
When he sang it at one of the ONA shows,It brought tears to my eyes. I love the words in this song and also the music.I could play this song 50 times without stopping and not get tired of it.

Most moving song would definite be 'sometimes it snows in April' from the parade album. Number 2 & 3:'the beautiful ones' and 'dreamin'about u' from the emancipation album.

GOD - just the feeling in that song from the piano and synth all the way to the climax of his vocals, i like listening 2 it when it's 4pm.

Purple Rain - I know it's a little bit cliched but the song is moving especially when the song deals with friendship and love being lost, i thought the First Avenue Live edit was a bit better though.

Adore - it took me awhile to listen to the song and when i got the chance i was hooked especially the lyrics towards the end, a possible wedding song canidate.

U will probably be mystified but I think Don't talk 2 strangers was his most moving piece. It almost made me choke when I first heard it.
Second choices:
Empty room
Crucial
Goodbye.

"The Beautiful Ones"....that whisper-to-a-scream delivery really packs a wallop...and the music is haunting and beaufiful at the end.

"Holy River"....Tons of introspection in the lyrics, and you can sense the happiness he seems to have found after years of looking in "all the wrong places" for something to bring him peace.

"Let's Have A Baby" & "Friend, Mother, Sister, Lover, Wife"....these two odes to his love for Mayte and their unborn child are packed with sincere emotion...and you can hear it in his vocals.

"Comeback"...Knowing it's about the death of his child makes it very moving, but even on its own the lyrics are sad and touching.

"The Holy River" makes me shake my head, thinkin about all the truth in that song.....it's like goin 2 church!
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

The Beautiful Ones I have too agree with, BUT....Close seconds because of the powerful words and the all encompassing feeling of love, pleasure, and adoration:

Adore
Insatiable
Let's Have A Baby
Another Lonely Christmas
I Would Die 4 U
Scandolous Sex Suite- The Passion
Man of War
Still Would Stand All Time (The end "We're not alone people...Tell me can you see the light!!)
Soul Sanctuary
Joy In Repetition
Nothing Compares 2 U
Condition of The Heart
Slow Love
Power Fantastic
She's Always In My Hair (I agree big time!)
So Dark
The Question of U (hand clapping...shoutin'...very haunting)
and Believe it or not...
Elephants and Flowers (it's that bass line)

For the instrumentals:

When The Lights Go Down

Sorry I feel that way about all of the above!!
peace heart and fro
