Electric Intercourse I just stumpled over one of the unreleased numbers from the Purple Rain-era. Had never heard about it before...and I just love it. Even though PR are one of my favorite albums it would be even better with Electric Intercourse on it. It would be hard to find the song it should replace - but this song is just so great...that it would be one of the strongest on the album, if it was there!
What do you think - about the song, and if PR would be better if Electric Intercourse replaced one of the other songs) Fryd - Always Park The Car Sideways!

Its a great song and it should have gone on the album. Could have esaily put it in there without getting rid of anythin else. "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

How so? He already had nine songs on the album, and there was no room for any other tracks. This,of course, was back in the days of vinyl.

Hmm well the album is just under 45 mins and i know that was the sort of limit with vinyl without making it a double album. But he could have least had it as a B side "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

I think it's a decent ballad, but it was the right choice replacing it with The Beautiful Ones.

you know what, why doesn't Prince just release a 2-CD Deluxe Edition of 'Purple Rain'? The first CD will be the original album. The second CD could be all the outtakes, alternate versions,12" versions, etc.
will this ever happen??

why not just release Electric Intercourse NOW!
the general public have been waiting 4 him 2 release PR pt. 2 since 1985, I think that song would almost guarantee commercial success, and a badly missed high chart position U should have let me down easy,
If u had no plans 2 please me!

I have to confess, I have been secretly dreaming of Prince performing at some award show like the VMAs and playing "Electric Intercourse" to the stupefied crowd.
However, LPs aren't by any means limited to 45 minutes in duration. They can easily go up to 50-55 minutes, even up to an hour. However, if you extend the playing time of a vinyl it will also mean somewhat compromised sound quality. In the 80s they started seriously skimping on the amount of vinyl used in the pressing process to cut down on manufacturing costs (this is the "music industry" no matter what), so the disks were quite thin already and extending the playing time would have meant even worse quality.

"Electric Intercourse" is the bomb! I love that song. I do think that Prince needs to finally release a Purple Rain special edition double cd with all the extended tracks/b-sides/outtakes, etc. But that song is fantastic! I love it too!

But he could have least had it as a B side Well, as I have stated on here several times, P, if it wasn't for the movie, would have put this song on an album. His next album would have been called something else, but u can bet it would have included the unedited versions of Darling Nikki, The Beautiful Ones, Computer Blue. This would have been more in the vein of his 1999 album. Note, the songs I mentioned all were performed by P alone. But, yes, since there was a movie, P DEFINATELY should have put it as a b-side. Another great 'unofficial' song from this period.
BTW I had an in-law who took a class on-line in elelctrical engineering which was nick-named the Electric Inter-Course.

I love this song. I think I only like it more the more I listen to it but yes such as it is with the way Purple Rain the movie was set up most people think that the Beautiful Ones should've been the one to make the album instead of it "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

" I want u and Im not ashamed...."
I have loved this song for years and could see it in Purple Rain, the movie, imagine him singing this to Appolonia? It is such a sensual/sexual ballad... Stand Up! Everybody, this is your life!
