Who is the worst actor in Purple Rain? This flick was on TV this week and I'd forgotten how truly awful most of the acting is in it (we'll set aside the cliche-laden script for now). Here is your invitation to rank the actors in Purple Rain, from worst to first! | |

Well, you must admit that (compared to the rest of the musicians in the cast) Morris acquitted himself fairly well. And I'd say, for example, that Lisa was better than Wendy. | |

Although Brown Mark must have given the worst ever pout caught on camera.  Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I'm thinking Billy Sparks(?) sucked, too. You can almost see him moving his lips as other people speak, waiting for his own lines. 
I love the heck out of some Prince, and I loved Purple Rain when it came out, especially since I was a teenager and sooooo infatuated with Prince, anyway. I watched Purple Rain again after some years had gone by and cringed all the way through it. The acting is truly horrible all the way around.  Murica: at least it's not Sudan. | |

Crap actors Worst first 
Apollonia, Olga Karlatos, Dumpster lady, That blond girl who says to Prince "I'll be there" Mediocre actors, all same Billy Sparks (Having the ability to swear is not acting to me) Prince, Apollonia 6, Jerome, Other band members (Got like 2 lines each) Average actors Wendy and Lisa, Clarence Williams III Good actor(but not excellent) Morris Day
But the acting was so bad, because hardly any of them had acted before, theyre mostly musicians not actors and they had to condense 6 years acting into 6 months. In fact apart from Prince who had videos, only Vanity (who quit) had acting experience in PORNO movies. Olga and Clarence were actors but very B grade extra ones. Who wants the Revolution or the Time to act, we just want to see them live, it was a rock concert for $3.50. I am not so enthusiastic about Apollonia 6 though!
Apollonia was a very poor choice, it was the start of Prince choosing some people for looks rather than their musical or acting abilities 
But 2 concentrate on the positive, cartoon acting was the only thing that let PURPLE RAIN down. The story is sound, it shows people working hard and making something of their lives. They are encouraged to work hard and make sacrifices. Theres no drugs (unique in rock movies) and quite a bit of sincerity. And then well the MUSIC easily the best part of it. Jill Jones & Dumpster woman of course; but despite the deplorable acting, isn't it great that it won an Oscar? How many horribly-bad acted movies can say that?  The check. The string he dropped.
