The Sex of It

i only just discovered this song, am really lovin it

anyhow, i'm very curious about it...

anyone have some background info? was it a cover version or did prince write it himself? did one of his band members re-record it and release it? (i think i read that somewhere)

was is schedueled at any stage to appear on a prince album?

i absolutely positively love this song!!

this song was written 4 kid creole and the coconuts, its on their private waters in the great divide album (if any one has kid's version of this song orgnot me i'd love to hear it)

The Kid Creole version is still available on 'The Ultimate Collection' 3CD set (very last track).

Alkternatively, it's also featured on the Prince cover CD - 'The Prince Songbook - Symbolism':

There's a rehearsal of this circulating that was said to be from the summer of 1987. One of the first known live performances of The Sex of It was at the Reseda Country Club aftershow the night of the 1987 MTV Music Awards. From this information it's assumed this track was written and recorded in 1987, not necessarily intended for Kid Creole and The Coconuts, but possibly intended for the next Sheila E project.

I have a CD single of the Kid Creole version of the song with some remixes on it. I don't recall if they're any good...
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
