Does Prince like Devo? Maybe he does, or did at one point, I don't know. When Devo was out in the early 80's some of their stuff did kinda resemble Prince's. Ever listen to the "New Traditionalists" album? Some of the beats resemble Prince's work on "Contorversy", which came out the same year. I also remember reading that Warner Brothers (they label that both artists were on) would send him free records. I'm pretty sure Devo was one that he received.
Just wondering. I'm fucking bored, so pardon me if you think this thread is silly. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Actually, I hear lots of elements on Contreversy (and 1999) that have the 80's synth-pop sound on it.
"Sexuality" from Contreversy sounds very influenced by that sound. But with all things Prince, he manages to make them his own. He did it with Arena-Rock, Jazz, synth-pop, and less successfuly, hip-hip.

Wonder if he LIKED THE MOTELS and MISSING PERSON'S BUT I think he did since he worked on DALE'S RIOT IN ENGLISH album. Also wonder if he liked THE HUMAN LEAGUE. I think he must have...DON'T YOU WANT ME BABY, Spandau Ballet, and DURAN DURAN. These were the big groups out along with THE CLASH and U-2. ELVIS COSTELLO was the BIGGIE ALSO.And lest we FORGET ADAM ANT..... PRESS DARLINGS..Your So PHYSICAL. The Cars and Talking Heads and Ian Dury, Gary Glitter and Dead Kennedys were clubbie stuff.
