It's apparent that his first wife didn't take too kindly to his new religion because it did not have any profound change on her life like it changed his. Which could be the reason for feeling as though his words were useless or waisted.
But that's just my non-knowing-Prince opinion. I have never heard the song myself but from the lyrics this is what I thought that it was about. The problems in his relationship nothing more and nothing less and as far as him callling his fans pigs seems a bit ridiculous. | |

I always thought this was his song repsonse to the events of 9-11.
I was waiting for his artistic repsonse, and this is the first thing that he put out. similar response as the new one he just put out for New Orleans.
