Just remembered another one that always used to do it for me, the solo on The America 12", that 20 minute version!

America 12" Computer Blue...Long version Purple Rain Gold

It's too obvious but I still think his best guitar solo is Purple Rain on the "Live" video. He makes the guitar sing like I've never heard before or since.

Absolutely fucking fantastic guitaring right there. Hell yeah! That's always been one of my favorites!! I wish he'd release a high-quality copy of that song. I also like Bambi, Question of U, Joy in Repetition, ICNTTPOYM,... And, while maybe not the most technically great, I've always dug his guitar work in Mayte's Ain't No Place Like U.

That's not Prince. It's from a NPG record, don't know the name anymore. I think it was an instrumental album.

kiwirefugee said: How about the Take Me With You long video, with Prince tearing up the guitar live with all this video footage of flying through hills. Took me years to find that, but well worth the wait. Otherwise, yeah Just My Imagination is stellar!
Amen on Take Me With U!!! I couldn't stand that song till I saw the video---And WB didn't have enough sense to put it in the Greatest Hits DVD!!! Just makes me very angry with that solo I also like Just My Imagination (what everyone else said) Erotic City rehearsal with the Revolution (3 amazing solos in it) I Rock, Therefore I Am (reg. version + remix on Ahdio Show) Gett Off on MTV VMA Purple Rain (album version, 85 AMA version, Prince and Revolution Live, and Rave DVD) there are others, but my brain is hurting tryin to think of more

I love ´When doves cry´ guitar...the beginning is awesome, and the solo is funky. I like the aggressive ´Live 4 love´, the phrasing of ´Get some solo´, ´I hate u´ and ´SHH´ are very special too. ´TRC´, ´SOTT´, ´I could never take the place´. I like his solo on ´Space´ (My first Birthday bootleg) a lot too. The solo of ´I will´ is beautiful too.
I think The Rainbow Children has his best guitar playing ever when we talk about full albums. The Chicago concert has some very good guitar moments too. Prince seems to be getting better and better as a musician lately.

ROADHOUSEGARDEN said: tHE rIDE from the warehouse when he say's 'Let The games begin...'. That was one of the best guitar performances w/ Prince I have ever seen!!! There was also some great playing on The Rave Un2 The Year 2000 tape.
- Are you talking about the ´Sacrifice of Victor´concert? If so, I agree...it´s one of the most inspired Prince guitar playing ever. I forgot to add ´Computer Blue´, ´Anna Stesia´ and ´Joy in repetition´ to my list

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man
Alexa De Paris Computer Blue (gorgeous) Just about anything from The Undertaker Another Lonely Christmas 4 the Tears In Your Eyes (the acoustic version - the closest thing to a TRUE, simple acoustic song he's ever released, in my opinion - I include this simply for the unusual amount of restraint, which I'd love to hear again) ...and that's just the short list...

Right away I think of "Joy in Repitition", "The Question of U" and "The Ride".

Here we go again (thanks anxiety) I could never take the place of your man along with any jam on SOTT. A one man mega force with real instruments and real talent. SOTT is Prince at his finest, period. Please come back to us ---------------------------------
