Which song do you think features Prince on guitar at his best? I know this is a difficult question. I think P is one of the best guitarists out there. Here are my top 5 favorite for Prince on guitar alone.

I can't believe I totally forgot about "I'm Yours". How funky is that!!!

If you guys get to hear AnnaStesia *LoveSexy Rehearsal* (I think its on either the "Funk City" or "Erotic City" boot which ever one is the full rehearsal!!! ) THAT IS AMAZING!!!

My personal favorite is the solo in Just My Imagination from the Small Club set. That solo is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard.

"I'm Yours"...killer shit guitar...wonder if he's ever played it live...would have been da BOMB..."Bambi"...love the solos and fills..."Why U Wanna Treat Me So Bad"...the last bit...thats some fast stuff...the "Computer Blue" solos...awesome..."Shhh"...nice Santana-like licks between the singin...all the dang guitar playin in the Rave 2000 show...especially "She's Always In My Hair" and the "Purple House" thing... nice intro...and of course...the bestest on "The Rainbow Children" album...Oh have mercy...

ubrowneye, i was going to say the same thing: "Just my imagination" is just mind-blowing. i always thought Miko was playing along side him that song-but found out recently it was just Prince alone...!! Also, if you listen to "people without" with headphones, it's a total trip.

I'm with you, uglybrowneyes. That solo continues to blow me away every time I hear it. I'm a guitarist myself and I just think that particular piece has more feeling and passion in it than anything else I have ever heard.

I also happen to love the 'Question of U' solo. My fave Purple Rain solo is still from the Lovesexy Live video though. I have converted non-Prince fans to Prince fans with that solo!

not my fav, but anyone remeber the guitar solo on purple rain at the AMA's in '85. celebs never give each other props, especially at award shows, but they were on their feet that night. you can tell how much Prince was into it, he kicked the mic and was killin the stage.

the santana like solo in the middle of the rainbow children is funky, but for me its hard to pick just one. there are so many from im yours to the sensual everafter. lets not forget how great the solo in Alexa De Paris is. damn there are too many.

Some of my faves:

Joy in Repetition-After he reveals the 2 words "love me".
Lovesexy-Right after the peak in the middle of the song. Follow the guitar and you will see that it's funky as hell.
Batman-I still love this song to death! Full of funky guitar playing.
3 Chains of Gold-The killer metal riff at the end. I would match Prince up against any guitar player any day.
Just My Imagination-Yes I agree, this is probably the best I've heard. You can feel every emotion with each stroke of the strings.

I would love to go to the celebration but I can't, unfortunately the funds aren't right. Can't you sell me a copy off of e-Bay or something? I have to add The Rainbow Children to this list. I just listened to the guitar again on it and it is just amazing!

Well, hmmm "Uptown"? Strange choice I know, it's just perfect.

Another choice would have to be Love...Thy Will Be Done from Sweet Thing.

tHE rIDE from the warehouse when he say's 'Let The games begin...'. That was one of the best guitar performances w/ Prince I have ever seen!!! There was also some great playing on The Rave Un2 The Year 2000 tape.

How do people always omit the Undertaker video when this topic comes around? All Prince does is rip on guitar wit the power trio setting. I have Undertaker on laseridsc with the audio direct from DAT. If you ever get to see it, go straight to "Bambi". Any doubts that Prince is still an unsong guitar hero will be laid to rest

How about the Take Me With You long video, with Prince tearing up the guitar live with all this video footage of flying through hills. Took me years to find that, but well worth the wait. Otherwise, yeah Just My Imagination is stellar!
