Diamonds and Pearls Tour Very rarely do I hear mention of P's shows during the D&P era. Although the album's definitely not one of his strongest, but it's one of the more extravagant shows he put on during the 90s. What are you guys thoughts on the tour? I'm still trying to acquire a DVD of one of his shows. Ooh, little darlin' if you're

From what I've seen so far, I'd definitely say that's true. Loving the James Brown and the Famous Flames types dances... Ooh, little darlin' if you're

I've been at the D&P and Act2 concerts and I really thought they were great.
Sure,a lot of dancing, some rapping but overall..it was much better than the nUDE TOUR!! especially the act2 tour was one of his best, maybe because that's when he played,4 the first time, some B-sides (She's always..,Girl) and ALL his biggest hits. His Hits/B-sides was hitting the stores,so that's why. Love4oneanother

It was a very colourful tour, with the outfits and light show, with just the right balance of guitar work, funk and soul, and a dancing spectacular thrown in. I think the whole Diamond & Pearl era is underrated - people look at it now and it seems more dated than some of Prince's other eras, but back then, the music and look was right on point for the US, with all the new jack swing/hip hop emerging. Perhaps the only valid criticism is that it is when Prince first tried to emulate the current sound rather than innovating and leading.

That's a very good way to sum it up. Going back and looking at the hot performances he used to put on the Arsenio Hall Show during that time, along with alot of the concert footage, I feel that 91-93 doesn't get enough justice. Most seem to focus on how shitty "Jughead" was from D&P and leave it at that, but not alot about the shows he put on when he was trying to incorporate some new jack swing\hip-hop into his regimen. It's kinda unfair. [Edited 10/7/05 18:31pm] Ooh, little darlin' if you're
