No it doesn't, but it's easier to predict what the general public will like if you keep it "accessable". I have no idea why Prince is making easy listening crap. He's #1 at the bank, he's independant, so why not make the type of shit that will amaze fans and critics? Repo Man's got all night, every night.

Does he need to make watered down shit just to make a few bucks? I said it before and I'll say it again, if an artist isn't hungry anymore, if he doesn't feel like he has a point to make, then he might as well be dead...like Elvis. Repo Man's got all night, every night.

maybe he's spent
he recorded every thought that came into his head for years. maybe he's just run out of ideas. not saying it's a bad thing but it could be possible. and i'm sure being isolated doesn't leave a lot of room for new ideas to come in. he should probably start working with other people who aren't just going to yeild to his every whim and maybe get out and live a little bit more instead of ordering whole rooms clear before he comes in. But I'm not going to call it something it's not, which is great. It's simply not one of Prince's better works. Whether or not he put in the effort or not is for him to know and us to guess at if that's what we're concerned with. I still don't like What Do You Want Me 2 Do? though. Well, on the one hand, with all the publicity and hype we heard about Musicology, I just thought that the bar was higher than it actually was. I was expecting a concept album. What I got was a good B-Record, good enough, but not quite like The Rainbow Children or Lovesexy, and I even felt like I used to feel when I listened to albums like Purple Rain or 1999. I wonder how this album would have played if it was released in the 80s.
On the other hand, I think most people's trouble stems from the fact that they can't, as Dr. Wayne Dier said, "practice the art of allowing". This amounts to little more than acceptance. That's cuz some of us are still waiting to the follow up to Purple Rain, and that means there are some serious nostalgia junkies out there; nostalgia means nothing more than living in the past. In short, if you can understand that this is 2005, not 1985, then you'll like his new stuff. If not, oh well, I feel sorry for you.
