Shockadelica

Hello There,

In Alan Leeds liner notes to The Hits/The B-sides he says:

"Shockadelica...is best explained as Prince's way of suggesting to a dear friend that every album with a great title should contain a song by the same name."

I don't get what he's saying. Could y'all clear it up for me?

It is about Jesse Johnson. He put out an album with the title Shockadelica, but there was no song with the same title.
So Prince, big tease as he then still was, recorded a song with just that title. People always think there is a war between them, but instead it is more like sibling rivalry. The statement in the booklet you refer to points that out.
They were mates. Even though Prince was jealous one moment in time when The Time was more popular than he was with the live audiences.
