You know that video footage of the revolution rehearsing for the Purple Rain tour... some call it the Roadhouse Garden sessions while others have it labeled as the blue fishy sticker tape but my question is this..... for as hard as the band is practicing some of that material, did they ever even play the best sounding songs on the tour? 17 days, all day all night, erotic city are the main ones that come to mind as possible key songs which would have fit so well on that tour but I don't recall them played at the atlanta or syracuse shows. anybody know if they were played any where else? Boris perhaps...

I think 17 Days was played maybe only twice on that tour. Once. before Let's Go Crazy(the usual opener)and once or twice during the middle.
Irresistible Bitch and Possessed were played a fair amount of times and I think Erotic City was played several times on non concert tour shows only during that period.

Of course When Doves Cry was played at all of the shows.

Early 1985 Take Me With You was added after Little Red Corvette.
17 Days, irresistible Bitch and Possessed were often included in the later part of the tour. A few concerts towards the end of the tour the show started with full versions of 17 Days of Controversy behind the closed curtain before the show started off in the usual way. http://home.quicknet.nl/q...ntour.html

I thought that rehearsal was for a P's 1984 Birthday show at First Avenue and not the Purple Rain tour

If that was the case then they certainly didn't play what they rehearsed. "criticize ideas, not people."

If that was the case then they certainly didn't play what they rehearsed. The track listing for my boot of the June 7th 1984 Birthday show at First Avenue is: 1) 17 Days 2) Our Destiny 3) Roadhouse Garden 4) Prince speaks 5) All Day, All Night 6) Free 7) Noon Rendezvous 8) Erotic City 9) Something In The Water (Does Not Compute) 10) When Doves Cry 11) Irresistible Bitch 12) Possessed This pretty matches up with the rehearsal set that you are referencing. Here are a couple of links regarding the birthday rehearsal releases that may help: http://www.thedatabank.or...arsals.htm http://www.thedatabank.or...rtying.htm http://www.thedatabank.or...dhouse.htm

At some point Wendy cleared up the Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden confusion and said, as far as she knew, the song only had one title: Roadhouse Garden

Our Destiny and Roadhouse Garden are two different songs. Our Destiny was orignially called "Love-Our Destiny". When did Wendy talk about that? "I am your Density"

"I am your Density" earlier this year.....but prince could have blended two songs into one without her or the other bandmates knowledge...heck, only wendy and lisa knew that power fantastic was two songs into one...so who knows.
