If I Was Your Girlfriend - if it had ti be released it should have been the last single on SOTT, Housequake should have been the 2nd single

Glam Slam - should have been Lovesexy

I Wish U Heaven - should have been When 2 R In Love

Betcha By Golly Wow - should have been Sleep Around as the 1st single

The Holy River - should have been Soul Sanctuary

The Greatest Romance...- shouldn't have been the 1st single, So Far So Pleased should have been the 1st.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

"Glam Slam"---this is a good album track, but it is simply not 'hit single' material. The song is too dull for radio and it bombed big time. The logical choice for a second single is the vibrant title track.

"If I Was Your Girlfriend"---A very intriguing song,no doubt. But it was perhaps a little too weird for radio listeners who obviously didn't "get it".

"The Morning Papers"---another song that works better as an album track as opposed to a single.

"Betcha By Golly Wow"---he releases a 3-CD set with all those great new songs, and he chooses a cover song as the first single?! Truthfully,it's not even a good cover version.

"The Greatest Romance Ever Sold"---again,here is another song that was simply too boring for radio.Although 'Rave' isn't one of his best albums, there are several songs that would have made great singles.

I liked TGRS...and all the remixes. I think it should have been pushed on r&b radio. I know of non-prince fans that have the remixes of this song.

Based on sales...airplay was weak and the song, after hitting number 12 plummeted off the chart in the US. Set a bad precident for follow-up singles. Gold would have been ideal first single.

Judging by how boring all the songs were by other artists in the year 1999, this song seemed to fit in well with them and be just as boring. lol Never in my wildest dreams in 1982 when the "1999" album came out, did I imagine that music as a whole from the actual year 1999 would be so boring, even from Prince. Hell, I envisioned songs with a futuristic vibe like "Planet Rock", "Pack Jam", "Cars", "Whip It", and "Automatic".

Betcha by Golly Wow

I loved it, and so did R&B radio stations in my area, as I remember, but
there were more catchy, and just plain better singles he coulda released
like In this Bed I Scream, Sleep Around, Face Down, Someboby's Somebody etc...
If you will, so will I

Agree 100% with you. This was a horrid choice for a single, period, let alone for the lead single.
