Prince tunes that should have been number 1 Not really so much ur favourites BUT obvious classics that in hindsight should have got 2 the top spot
For the record Prince's US & UK 1's are US When doves Cry Lets go crazy Kiss Batdance Cream UK The most beautiful girl in the world In the UK i wanna know how 1999(2) when doves cry(4) Purple Rain(8) kiss(6) Sign of the times(10) didnt get 2 number 1 in the Uk & how Purple Rain & Sign of the times & Raspberry beret didnt get 2 number 1 in the US  Live4Love

When Doves Cry is the biggest miss in the UK. It was all over the radio but somehow missed out on the top spot. Everybody is special. Everybody. Everybody is a hero, a lover, a fool, a villain. Everybody. Everybody has their story to tell. |

All the songs that hit #2 should have hit #1. U Got The Look hit #2 too. Even Diamonds and Pearls and The Most Beautiful Girl in The World, both of them hit #3, should have gone to #1. I'll never understand how Purple Rain never hit #1 yet it's his most popular song. Boggles my mind I tell you.

I called a Top 40 radio station when "Alphabet Street" was a single and I kept asking them to play it, and they never would -- so one time I asked them why they won't play the song and they said, "Prince isn't very popular anymore," and I told them, "But it's a Top 10 single, idiots!!" Yeah, it shoulda been #1 but for some reason radio wasn't very friendly to him at the time. btw, "nothing compares 2 u (sinead's version)" was another #1 hit for Prince, and "Manic Monday (Bangles' version)" was a #2 hit for Prince. I'm not sure about Chaka's version of "I Feel For You" -- but it was a huge hit and won a Grammy for Prince as songwriter. [Edited 9/26/05 9:52am] | |
