One Nite Alone: The Official Break-Up album?!?

I have been listening to ONA and i thinks its easily his most personal album ever! The theme of someone leaving (Mayte? Have a Heart, Pearls B4 Swine, Here On Earth) and the joy of finding someone new is all over the CD.

anyone else think so.

ONA(TS) might qualify as one of the most beautiful songs he has released for a long time, if not ever, but ONA(TA) is more an exercise in rather loose songwriting.
Committing songs straight to tape is the freedom you hear, the lack of production is some cases sublime (One Nite Alone The Song and Here On Earth) and in other cases a bit silly (Young & Beautiful).
This album shows his strength as well as his weakness.
Personal? Uhm... ever heard of Sign "O" The TImes? Lovesexy or TRC, those are WAY more personal in lyrical content, but also strong musically. Exactly what ONA(TA) is lacking...

I know what you mean, Endorphin !

I too think ONA comes across as a very personal statement - much more than Sign of Times or Lovesexy, which are Prince hiding behind some pop star persona.
To me both TRC (at least the first half) and ONA are about love, with ONA adding a feeling of rather beautiful melancholy.

Right - shoot me.

I really dig "Have a Heart". The kind of album I need when I want to chill. Prince playing piano while singing is always a winning combination. "Grand Progression would have been a good closing song though.
I think Young and Beautiful sounds like the Partridge Family.

Some people are like Slinkies...

They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
