One of my favorite albums. Love Machine is horrendous though. Homegirl's singing and the wack beats together make it unbearable. This was the first Prince album where I had to hit the skip button. (Diamonds and Pearls and NPS are the others). I have a pretty high tolerance for bad music but I just can't do it on most days. smile

The songs by the protegees are great and the only thing that make this album tolerable. The Prince songs on this album are some of his worst. The movie was an even worse nightmare.

Your right about the movie being a nightmare. I remember going to the movie theatre to see it, and I was the ONLY person in the theatre!! That should have told me something.

I must admit, I put the Graffiti Bridge DVD on the other day and I call myself an obsessive Prince fan, and I just gave up half way through. The film is awful but the soundtrack is great. Good tracks from The Time. Would have left off Round & Round though.

Prince's version is far superior to this version.

Graffiti Bridge is a solid album. Not great, but certaintly not bad. Thieves in the Temple, Joy in . . ., and We Can Funk are all good, solid tracks. My question for all the Prince fans out there is what variant of The Time performed on the soundtrack. Was it the Prince with Morris Day and Jesse Johnson Time or the full-blown out group? Who played on The Time tracks? I am all about the music:) I usually stay away from the negative because it's much harder to get out on the front lines and create art (and other great works); however, the film was bad. And I mean badd! But, this musical genius is allowed a slip up or two because w/o him, we wouldn't even be on this forum.

The Time on Grafitti Bridge is what The Time has been most of their studio career : Prince & Morris.

What's a real shame about Graffiti Bridge is that the weaker songs on it aren't just bad; they're awful!

Can't Stop This Feeling I Got-Terrible.
Release It-Really annoying production.
Love Machine-That woman cannot sing at all! Really weak version of the song.
Tick Tick Bang-Embarassing.
The Latest Fashion-Awful.
Melody Cool-Pure crap.
Graffiti Bridge-Makes me wanna vomit.
New Power Generation Part II-Totally unnecessary.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

"You still wanna take me to prison...just because I won't trade humanity for patriotism."

I actually like most of the album a lot, though I think it would've been
better split into 2 seperate releases... A 'Prince' album and a 'soundtrack'
album.

Prince - New Power Generation
1. Can't Stop This Feeling I Got
2. We Can Funk (featuring George Clinton)
3. The Question Of U
4. Elephants & Flowers
5. Joy In Repetition
6. Thieves In The Temple
7. Tick Tick Bang
8. Still Would Stand All Time
9. New Power Generation (parts 1&2)

Graffiti Bridge - original soundtrack
1. Seven Corners - Ingrid Chavez
2. Release It - The Time
3. Round And Round - Tevin Campbell
4. Love Machine - The Time & Elisa Fiorillo
5. Number One - Robin Power
6. Shake! - The Time
7. Melody Cool - Mavis Staples
8. The Latest Fashion - The Time & Prince
9. Graffiti Bridge - Prince, Mavis Staples & Tevin Campbell

- Yeah, Boris, u separated well...the "Prince" album would have been a lot better than the "soundtrack" (which could be locked in the Vault and I wouldn´t care...hehe) smile
