".. he couldn't fit 'Pathetic' on the cover sleeve"

Excuse me for dragging up MJ again, but we all know that Prince supposedly dissed his "Bad" album.. how come, then, nobody ever provides the source/link for the interview in which he said it? It sounds like nothing but a tossed-around myth to me.

Is that the quote Prince said?

Maybe an MJ group could provide a source?

I never believed that Prince really said this.In fact,Prince was cool with MJ around this time.He even offered MJ a song for his album ("Wouldn't U Love To Love Me") which Mike turned down.

Exactly. I've never seen a source for this quote either.

I just regard it as part of the propoganda that's made to sell records and magazines, every star needs a star of similar stature to be pitted against in the media, it's what drives the wheels.

I remember seeing Michael Jacksons manager being interviewed by Terry Wogan once.
Terry asked him what they did with all the left over parts of MJ.
His manager (whose name escapes me) answered without missing a beat "Why,we made Prince". The audience collapsed with laughter.
This was when Bad had just came out and i think MJ was performing at Wembley.

lol
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

I never saw a quote, but I do remember hearing this.....

MJ asked Prince to make BAD a duet btw. the 2. Prince says "I'm not being part of a song where MJ sings....."YOUR BUTT IS MINE.""

Why am I thinking I heard this on the Chris Rock interview years back.....did that happen? Where did I hear that?

nod yup- was on the Chris Rock interview.

With regards to the quote - although its appearance in a "music" publication doesn't mean it was said by Prince, I did read it in a magazine in the UK, Smash Hits. (ok I was 14 at the time and it had just started its publication!). Even cut it out and put it with my Prince "montage" (again, back when I used to do that sort of thing).

Anyway, from what I remember, its was a jouranlist saying "Prince was heard to quip" at some muso-biz event blah-blah.

I'm sure he offered Mike a song and I'm sure privately they respect each other (or, perhaps, used to - I think, certainly with Prince, you have to preserve and maintain your reputation, hence his sly dig at James Brown on the Vegas DVD when he introduces Maceo and says "He used to play with James.....on a good day!") but in PUBLIC - well, its all good publicity and ego lol
