Different Perspective on Prince’s Chart Performance

I compiled a list of the top artist of the Rock era by adding the total points each artist accumulated in the following books:

I. Top Pop Singles 1955-2002 (Top 600 Artists pages 950-954)

If you go pre-rock era, the top artist is Bing Crosby. Just from the US pop charts alone, 1931-1954, he has over 35,000 points. He's also one of the most successful box office draws of all time, and he won an Academy Award as Best Actor in 1944. People today don't realize what a MAJOR force he was.
