Musical Reply to "Rock and Roll is Dead"

A friend of mine, who is a casual admirer of Prince, told me that Prince released a song in reply to Lenny's "Rock and Roll is Dead".

I've been picking my brains trying to think which Prince song he could have meant (he couldn't be any more specific either).

Any ideas?

I believe it's "Rock And Roll Is Alive(and it lives in Minneapolis). It was the B-side to the single "Gold".
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It's called "Rock'n Roll is alive (and it lives in Minneapolis)" and was the b-side of the "Gold"-single. There's also a video for that song, it was featured in the Love4Oneanother TV-special.

I was there when they shot the video. Fun! Gold glitter falling on everything. Wait, that was for the song "Gold" which they filmed the same night. R & R is Alive.... had fake snow I think. Prince in a Vikings jersey and ski goggles! Too funny!

You will never believe what show R&R made its debut on. Rosens Sports Sunday!(It's a local show, for those of you who live outside the Twin Cities area). Rosen said it was from NPG. And the song was dedicated to the Vikings.

I think it's an NPG hockey jersey, with ski goggles and fur boots shake
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I love that Rock & Roll Is Alive! That guitar tune is fantastic.

Mmmmm, yes, love this track - its great when he freaks like this! Lotsa little teasers, like the hard-rock blues based guitar break, or the brief, effects-laden bass solo - all classic Prince elements. Then going all progressive like Yes in points with dreamy harmonics on the guitars, and then ending up sounding like Zappa drilling his band at the end, great stuff! biggrin

Ahhhh. You are probably right. I might have been mixing it up with one show I saw at Paisley (in the small stage) one January (perhaps 2002 or 3?) where he did wear a Vikings jersey, might have even said "Moss" on the back I can't 'member...

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
