Case of U '83' vs 2002 Going back and listening to Prince perform "A case of U" at a show from '83, I know why this song never stuck in my memory...I think with time he has grown in2 this song as if it was his...Maybe he is thinking of his father when he performs it nowadays but it just seems so much more personal now. I think with each night of the ONA tour he has even gotten better. In NY, it was good but I thought in LA it was spectacular. Does anyone feel that this song has gotten better over the last 20 years? Dang, can U believe Prince has been at it for 25 years now!!?

I like the 83 guitar synth live Rev. version much better..The other version on The Park with just him on guitar is just as good. .the ONA version and these recent live versions dont even come close imo. Maybe with time I can get with the ONA version. But the synths on the 83 version and the vocals are just vintage. "Climb in my fur."

Synth doesn't do justice to the natural beauty of a song like "Case of U". The ONA version of Case of U is easily Prince's best version of it. Of course, the absolute best is Joni's.

It sure did --it added to the already great melody. Prince-ified it. The ONA version of Case of U is easily Prince's best version of it. .
easily? "Climb in my fur."

I gotta admit that I have always loved the '83 version and preferred it even when I got my copy of ONA. But after listening to the new version for the past week now, I've changed my mind and prefer the new one better. I guess it will probably take you a while to have the new version grow on you because you've listened to the '83 version for a while now.

I think that he performs the song better now. With the current band it has more of a fuller sound!

Gotta go with the '83. Dug it much more on guitar and low voice rather than falsetto. Heard him sing in during the "Jam of the year show (falsetto) at the Hollywood Bowl as well. I like this version as well, just not as much. cracknbush

I think it sounds clean and pretty now. '83 vers were gritty and I took to them straight away. I've heard two versions from '83. Pretty similiar. cracknbush
