Why does Prince Change so Much? Prince changes every time we see him but it just seems so contrived and staged...so thought out and unnatural...like when he went from Im Afro cute in 1978 2 Im Virgin cute in 1979 2 Im a sex freak in Dirty Mind 2 Im a Communist student in controversy 2 Im Glam Rock in '1999' 2 Im a Rock star in Purple rain 2 Im now a Hippy in ATWIAD 2 now I think I'll be a slick Playboy in parade 2 now I'll be a Political activist in SOTT 2 what haven't I done Oh I know! I'll be a spiritual leader in Lovesexy...after that the constant changing just went crazy until he changed his name, his singing turned 2 rapping, and he's wearing more foundation than Alicia keys

U cannot tell me P changes so much cos it's just a natural progression...I say he's running from something.
The same way MJ kept chaNGING 2 RUN FROM HIS CHILDHOOD AND FATHER I SAY pRINCE CHANGES CONSTANTLY 2 run from his past. Perhaps from his father as MJ did..only he uses music styles, concepts and clothes instead of plastic surgery.. | |

I dont think Prince has ever been as confident or secure as he would like to be, or as he likes us to think he is, so maybe it just stems from that. It looks like hes still not comfortable in his own skin. We all change, our styles and whatnot, but most of us were never as extravagant ass Prince in the 1st place, so the changes are more muted. I want some asses wigglin, I WANT some perfection!! | |

I agree.. In the beginning of his career he would always sing about " I wish there was no black and white" and "Newbreed's" . Also P actively created a world or world's of pure fantasy just like MJ's Neverland. except he called them Paisley park or Uptown etc.. He's distanced himself from his past, his reality and in many ways his very self..just like MJ..why? why constantly change?  | |

You know why people talk about MJ's transformation? Because it has gone from rock star evolution (what Prince has done) and veered into the freakish and extreme.
Face it, Prince changes makeup, clothes, hairstyles, mantra's, women, etc. MJ carved his face up a few times too many. It's not that MJ has had TOO many procedures. It's that they were poorly done and unnatural looking. Prince has not reconstructed his face with a scalpel. Notice, people didn't mention MJ's transformations during the Thriller era even though he had already had some work done. He hadn't gone overboard with it yet. It's called recreation.
It's fun and playful and interesting in a pop world where most things are fashionable for 5 minutes and then disposable. New album? Maybe a new band, new key colours, new album font, new hair and look, new clothing style. Of course, it's contrived and staged - he's planned it, and he's a performer. . moderatorMaybe he changes his look to fit what hes doing at the moment. That and maybe he gets bored. Im a Gemini too, and I cant stand the same look for too long a period of time. I remember him saying that we are all an evolution. He changes but I think its more of an evolution into another stage of his life. His thoughts, the things around him etc changes so he changes along with his atmosphere or anything going along in his life. Also I think to make it in the buisness he is in you must change or be left in the past. | |

2 this one.. ----- First of all we all change with the times. P was not going to be wearing a fro in the 80's and he is not going to wear a ruffle shirt in the 00's. Secondly, it is called the entertainment industry. You have got to stay ahead of everyone else and be different or you will not last very long in the industry. I think that is the real reason Maddona and Prince are still around after 20 plus years in the industry. They knew how to keep changing and keep us guessing. | |

i think P changes have been for the betta, i mean look at him now compared 2 the 80s he was just a plain old weirdo...but i spose every1 was back then, but compare it 2 today and its more normal, sure he still may wear a shitload of make up but i mean who doesnt now days, but his clothing is way more normal now, his suits r the shit i want me some of them! Look at all these shows like Extreme Makeover and stuff. Humans get insecure with what they are, then change to be what they want to be. Im sure its just as simple with Prince, although its harder for him as, like every other star who messes up the changes, he surrounded by "Yes Men".
