The Revolution Vs The NPG who do u guys like betta?
personally i think the revolution are crap, there good but i dont like them that much i would just prefer if P was just by himself although a lot of the tracks would sound shit widout backup singers etc I find the NPG more listenable to me i spose its cause they have less 80s sounding synth in it (i can only listen 2 a certain amount of synth b4 it starts gettin annoying) i find the NPG more powerful with their music and less weird, i think the NPG made Prince turn a bit normal and through wat they have taught him his become even more normal 2day, dont get me wrong he was still a bit strange with them around look at graffiti bridge, theres sum strange shit goin down there. NPG are better! "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

NPG 1994-1995 can easily run with the Revolution of any era. "New Power slide...."

I will go with the NPG 94-95 but Wendy and Lisa made the Revoltion what it was!
Still the SOTT and LoveSexy band was better...miles aways! [Edited 9/14/05 6:08am]

The Revolution hands down. They were great live AND in the studio, well Lisa and Wendy were anyway.

Prince was in his most creative period in teh revolution era. NPG as a band kicks revolution ass.

How much did the Revolution do in the studio actually? It seems like they never made any more of a contribution than the NPG did. "New Power slide...."

Hmmm...that's kinda tough...but i'd go with NPG musically, and The Revolution artistically. He came out with his best stuff with them but the NPG is kinda like him going from a garage band to an orchestra. I guess that's a good analogy. Who's gonna stop 200 Balloons?

As a band I loved the (extended) Revolution of '86. The NPG has been a constantly changing band, and in short, I didn't much like the first incarantions, but love the band of the last two tours. There have been many great musicians in the NPG, but they didn't excite me at all . I think the decrease in the racial/gender mix made things a little dull.
However, I would rate the SOTT/Lovesexy band above both the above, as Prince's greatest band.

The NPG from the Gold exp era was easily the best band but the band he has now are great I just loved micheal B and Sonny T

Good answer! I'll always favor the Revolution though. Maybe it's because of the era I grew up in, I don't know. The Revolution seemed more of a group, more of a family where as the NPG seemed more like just hired musicians. Even though he may have shared more studio time with NPG members and such they just didn't have the presence that the Revolution had. It will always be The Revolution 4 me!

i'd say the SOTT/lovesexy band was the perfect mix between hired musicians (NPG) and a group of locals (revolution)
