Prince is far superior to either MJ or Madonna as a multi-tasking musician. I never liked MJ and Madonna's sound could compare to bubblegum music. With Prince You get hard rocking, funking slamming soul. Prince is a Soul Man and that puts him way above the rest.

Madonna is by far the worst out of the three. It pisses me off that she's the only one that the media like/care about. When it comes to the mainstream media MJ and Prince have shot themselves in the foot, MJ with his court cases and other strange behaviour and Prince with the name change. This is what has allowed Madonna to still have a mainstream pop career, she hasn't done anything as crazy as MJ and Prince and isn't the butt of many a joke.
In terms of talent, Prince and MJ are so far ahead of Madonna its unbelievable. Madonna has never had an album that had the kind of impact that Thriller or Purple Rain had, she never had that 'big album', well maybe Ray of Light but it wasn't that big. Anyway below is my comparison of all 3. He is a multi instrumentalist, not to the level of Prince but I know he plays the Piano/keyboards, guitar, bass and drums as well as other instuments, he also programs and arranges a huge portion of his music. I would also say he is more Flamboyant than Madonna, he had his own unique style which many people have copied, remember the high trousers, red jacket, glove, white/sequenced socks, military jacket etc. Madonna has always struck me as a lucky person who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. | |

with Prince, you can't just go out and buy up all his albums in a week, because there's just so many, so much to explore...
u have to dig deep into his catalogue before u can really comprehend just how incrediblely talented he is. it took me almost a whole year just to get to the bootlegs (too young to be a fan in the 80s) Some say quality over quantity. Prince does both, albeit sometimes inconsistantly. Prince certainly doesn't get the recognition and respect he deserves, but only because most people don't have the time to spare him. Maybe if he had condensed his work into 5 great albums they'd digest it a bit better, with MJ, the bulk of his work lies in a mere 4 albums, Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad and Dangerous (his early stuff can't be fairly compared alongside Prince and Madonna). MJ had some great singles and videos in his heyday but unfortunately he couldn't keep it up. I absolutely love Madonna, before Prince she was even my favourite artist. To be honest though, all most people need is a good mix tape, even though she does have a few great albums. all in all, Prince is a musical journey, MJ and Madonna are cheap thrills [Edited 8/31/05 21:56pm] | |

Madonna is a talentless hack, who can't sing her way out of a paper bag. If it wasnt for her unabashed thievery of every new trend of gay culture she would never have an act.
Michael Jackson was one of the most scary-talented people on the planet till about 1987 when like a piece of fruit he went...bad. He was a great pop music musician(thats not saying much) Now he sucks all kinds of balls musically. Prince is THE consumate musician's musician. He can play circles around these two chumps. He is a REAL composer who still writes prolific complex acomplished music. He has the improvisational skills that the other two robots of this topic wished they had in thier dreams.(this includes dance steps). Furthermore in a hundred years conservatories will be studying the music of P. Nelson long after the vapid pop of MJ and Mrs. Desperate is long forgotten. There isnt even a contest... Vocally, when he sung he was on point. Just compare the vocals from the Dirty Mind Tour to the Truimph tour  or any previous Tour.
since when does range encompass one's entire vocal ability. Jackson had a much more powerful, clear voice, with range to boot. Keys and octaves Now give me the ranges and octaves of both if you're so versed in that area. | |

In the 70s MJ was the winner as a pop icon. In the 80s MJ was the winner as a pop icon, Prince was close after Purple Rain came out In the 90s Madonna was the winner - she reinvented her style many times and matured (Erotica, Ray of Lihgt) In the 2000s Prince seems to be ahead of the other 2, but MJ and Madonna are still capable of regaining their positions, because they are more ambitious than Prince is. Musically Prince is the winner. Prince does not care about the sales and charts so much - but if we look at Musicology tour and album - we can see a little bit of hunger in him also. | |
