Avalanche is great in that it's moving and controversial.

A Case of U is a nice cover, although it's too short

The CD as a whole is a brilliant, intimate piece of work.

ONA - fantastic piano solo, but too short and vague lyrics. Not a fav.

U're gonna c me - beautiful melody, very nice playing and singing at end of the song, weak first verse, but very good last verse ...
"you are the reason I toke a rope and lassoed the moon.." love it... a favorite.

Here on earth - beautiful mysterious little song, blackwell laying extra flavor to the song, great intro, all in all a little too simple and short, but a great a little tune.
Not a favorite.

A case of U - beautiful heartfelt cover, beautiful song, definitly one of his best performances on this disc.
definite fave...

Have a Heart - haunting melody and piano playing, plays a part with Objects in the mirror, once you have heard the song enough times you get to appreciate it as a good song. Interesting lyrics, but with lose ends, no answers, only questions.
"so what about the heartbreak?"
not a fave.

Objects in the mirror - one of the less strong songs, not a fave, cheesy lyrics, but when it returns to the melody from Have a heart it kinda reminds me of some of the kamasutra compositions, kinda classical, I like it still and it flows superbly into...

Avalanche - maybe the best song on this disc, so much blues in this song, so minor, so much truth in its lyrics, so sad, maybe the best song on this disc...
huge fave.

Pearls before the swine - now this one for quite some time already, but it is still one of his best songs in years. The melody is simply so catchy that it would have been a aguarenteed number 1 if Prince was still ruling the charts.
The lyrics are very interesting and really give me the idea Prince talks directly to (some of) the fans...
also a huge fave.

Young and beautiful - fantastic chinese like intro, very strong song, very surprising to hear something like this coming from P... would have thought Lenny Kravitz had a patent on these 'flower child' like songs lol still... remarkable hearing Prince sing "They only want your virginity" and then "keep ur clothes on and ur chastity untill u find the one that's worth it baby"...
fave.

Arboretum - Venus de Milo part 2 lol
I love it, this is the kind of music he should be making an entire album of, it is simply good music and full of soul, but without words... they can be left to the listener...
definite fave.

Oh wasn't this the ONA review thread??? smile

oh what the heck!

I would say my faves are: U're gonna c me, A case of U, Avalanche, Pearls before the swine, Young and beautiful, and Arboretum.

Hey that's more than half of the album!
I guess I really like it then... wink

Abrazo, I'm glad you mentioned that the beginning of the song "Young and Beautiful" has a "chinese like intro", because I thought the same thing when I first heard the song (and still do). Nice to see that somebody is thinking the same way as myself. smile
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Here on Earth really moves me. Avalanche gets my political dander up. 'Bout damned time somebody called Abraham Lincoln what he is...a racist.

This is exactly the kind of narrow-minded thinking Prince is responsible for. I could find (& I think I'll do it in a moment) a quote by Malcolm X which clearly paints him as a racist. If you're going to judge Lincoln by one thing he said, you had better be prepared to do the same of the heroes of your race.

As for my favorite track - I'd pick that momentary silence -that at least sounds a bit different from the rest of the CD.
