Daddy Pop

This song is highly underrated i think, and is one of prince's best 90's songs. It's just fun and cool. Am i the only one who thinks this way?

Kind of cheesy and disposable like most of the album's other material, but it does gets the job done, fun-wise.

dated very badly indeed.

When D&P first came out, i loved just about all of it. After being soooo disapointed with Graffiti Bridge, i eat it up!! In hindsite, D&P has got some classic Prince songs but too much filler. The (best) songs on Graffiti Bridge are completely superior to anything on D&P.

hear hear!

they would have both made for excellent 8 song albums
like many of Prince's early releases were.

heck, even The Black Album and LoveSexy had less than
10 songs on them.

Shorter albums aren't always worse off for lack of an
other handfull of songs/filler.

The surrounding fluff on both of those albums makes m
both seem less cool than they actually are/could be.

I liked this song back in 1991,but I can't listen to it nowadays.Let's just say,it's one of those Prince songs that hasn't aged very well.I feel the same way about the title track.

Obviously GB could have benefited from losing the non-Prince tracks.

But Lovesexy and the Black album contain nearly half filler.

Very early ninties! lol But yeah it's one of those songs where I can see alot of Prince fans being like "Oh not the cheesy D and P era" but dancing to it in their living room when no one is looking! I like it, it is a fun song to dance to!

Did you see the preformance of it on the Arsenio Hall show? OMG that was amazing! nod

Agree 100% with your song choices. Very good cuts. Jughead, walk don't walk, push, not so fond of.

"Walk Don't Walk" Sucked! To me that's one of the worst tracks he's ever done. "Jughead" sounds like a throwaway from an old "Time" album. Didn't someone try to sue him over that song?

It's a fun track . . . has a nice "boasting" quality to it, kinda the forerunner of "My Name Is Prince".

Nice bass line and playful Prince lyrics, but the Tony M. rap? feeling ill

It stands out about all others because of Tony M's excellent rap showing everyone else how its done.

Why? If it's not that good of an album to a lot of people, why not just be honest?

With that silly rationale, I could just as easily turn it around and say people just need to stop praising an album like 1999.

Either way it just doesn't make sense.

Oh and "Daddy Pop" sucks btw.

Those who came to party know just what I'm talkin about
So come on y'all (oh yeah)
Wave your hand in the air, everybody
Wave your hand in the air (oh daddy)
For the funkiest band in the land and don't forget
The P-A-R-T-Y-M-A-N (oh yeah)

Peace (Daddy Pop) (oh daddy)

BEAUGARDE

I think it might be the versions (Cream & Daddy Pop) Prince chose 2 put on the CD. When he performed the songs on the Arsenio Hall Show the day b4 the Cd was released I was taken aback. He cooked, smoked & serve that shit up. My friend's mother is still talkin' bout it! The Cd as a whole was the bomb! "Graffiti Bridge can't follow it, so shut up already!!!!!

thats maybe true , but thats about 3-4 songs off GB , the rest of GB is far inferior to most of D&P , and as such I'd say D & P is a much much better album that Graffiti Bridge , the 1st side of it is excellent throughout , I love everything from Thunder thru Gett Off inclusive .The worst songs on GB are the poorest Prince has done for over a decade neutral
