'The Sun, The Moon & Stars' & 'When The Lights Go Down' should've been singles. Both R masterpieces.

"when the lights go down" is a damn good song.
it was the most pleasant surprise in a long time to hear that on "The vault" album in '99. I don't care too much for "Sun Moon & Stars", it has some very nice elements and such but it is just a bit too cringeworthy for my taste as the "ragga rap" comes in. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

"When The Lights Go Down" is one of prince's best! And i dont really like The "Sun Moon & Stars" But it's not a bad song. "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

Sort of. If I was supposed to compile a list of Prince's essential 90s tracks I'd put them on it, just to piss off folks that understand phish about music.

I just listened to When the Lights go down, really lovely song but that long
intro wouldn't have made it a favorable single chose If you will, so will I

'when the lights go down' is fabulous. not a single in the slightest, but drop dead brilliant.
'the sun, the moon & stars' on the other hand, is a load of shit. his voice sounds as if he's been eating sandpaper, the rap is awful, the music is crap. that fucker should never have been released.

I love "When The Lights Go Down", but it's hardly single material is it? Sun Moon Stars is cool too..... I even like the rap...

When I first started dating my old boyfriend the very first Prince song I ever played for him was When the Lights Go Down. He is a huge fan of jazz and blues and I wanted to hook his ass and so I told him I wanted to play him something and popped in Prince's "Vault" and then played WTLGD. He was so hypnotized and about a minute into Prince's singing he turned to me with glossy eyes and said "who is this?
I said "PRINCE"! and told him never to question me on the man and why he's a genius. He never did 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740
