Is 1 of my favorite songs by Prince and I never hear any1 speak on it! Has Prince ver performed this song live? His scream is 2die4

It's got a great and origional drum beat and i love it!

Can never work out whether I love the official or unreleased version more...

I like the fact that ALL versions of this song sound completely different, from the cold, dark and fast released version on 1999 to the almost Carribean sounding, relaxed version he did during the ONA tour.
And then there´s the unreleased version from 1984 with the piano ( similar to the released version) and apparantly there´s another version from 1982 (?) with different synth arrangements.

My favorite incarnation of that song is probably the summer of 1983 and ´84 rehearsal version (almost 15 min. long)....

I also like the version of When You Were Mine from that era...the Revolution is not necessarily my favorite Prince band, but they did a great job with those two songs.

Has anybody here on the org heard the acoustic version he did during the Musicology tour ??
This is probably the only song I simply can´t imagine as an acoustic version.

What albums can "Something In The Water" be found on. Thanks.

The screaming sends chills down my spine! I this song! The first time I heard it I played it over and over. Unfortunately the more I played it the shorter it got. I am so glad a 15min version was mentioned. I have to find it now!

Yep, i am a fan of this cut myself, very fresh sounding.

When I first heard this song it gave me an aching feeling in my gut! I love it. One of my favorite things about Prince is the way he is so honest and you can really feel how he gave that song his all! I heard alot of pain in his voice during the recording of that song. He is so brave to put that on a record that millions of people would listen to. He is so not a fake person...even behind all his money, and women and image...he is very real and very brave and I admire that!

Marvelous, fantastic song. The beat is fire. 1 of my favorite Prince songs and 1 of the best on the album 1999. I love the chorus, it's a beast. 1 verse he says "Some people think I'm kinda cute", I love that shit, i repeated it over and over sometimes. When I first heard it I was blown away, I was like "Oh shit, this song sweet as hell". The song is great, it's the first track a turn 2 on the album. I think that song is 2cond in line after International Lover as the best on the album 1999.

Unreleased version, all day. The piano and the odd sounds on the coda just make it, plus that funky ass bassline.

1999 is just another album that proves what a ground-breaking artist Prince is. No one can replicate his sound. "Something In The Water" is a great tune. I also like "All The Critics Luv U(In New York)" I like it when he yells "TAKE A BATH HIPPIES!!!!!"
