prince said :i heard you have some good weed here.
i was suprised.
prince had many references to weed like in the song schoolyard or chaos and disorder(big joints never take you higher)

also on the james brown 1983 show prince was definetly on some kind of drug.
his guitar playing is so crazy(in a positive way)
that i suspect that he smokes mary jane.
anybody of you orgers suspected anytime or seen him high?

I dont think he smokes weed, I think hes tried it, just like most of us, I have a poster of him with two fingers to his mouth like hes smoking, also if you look closely at the live from Syracuse Purple Rain concert just after "1999", he makes the same "weed" sign

In 'Schoolyard', it is 'Carrie' that smokes a joint, in 'Sign O' The Times', it is the narrator's cousin who tries reefer for the very first time - and implies that within months the same person was on heroin. In 'Chaos and Disorder' it is unclear at best whether the 'you' in the lyrics (Big joint never got U higher, Freebase cost U in the end') disguises an autobiographical description - but that seems unlikely because it would imply that Prince freebased and suffered as a result. In 'Days Of Wild', the narrator explicitly puts down smoking weed (Pop guns and weed? Brother please! We're 2 wise 4 nonsense). In 'Now', the reference to smoking weed is a metaphorical play on words. And in 'Don't Play Me' he sings "I'm over 30 and I don't smoke weed"


3. There are not, as you claim, 'many' references to weed in Prince songs.

The only references I know of are on the NPG 'EXODUS' album released in 1994.

I'm sure he used to smoke in younger, teen years, everyone did around him,it was the thing for a musician to do.

I believe he had smoked weed before, he probaly liked it to. And he does drink, don't let the fact that he is a Jehova's Witness fool you.

well maybe in his hayday he did smoked a little weed. but now i think he doesnt even do any drugs much less weed.

I'm sure he's tried it, I get the feeling he didn't like it - he's the kinda guy to have a whack-out trip.

The lyrics to Now suggest to me that he wants you to listen to the music he and his band are playing, not smoke weed.
