worst quality, yes - in my opinion, though, one of his best performances on an "official" video (especially if they hadn't hacked the daylights out of it).

That's your opinion. I thought that was an excellent concert. He was just showing everybody how it's done. Now I prefer a live-in-the-flesh concert over something that's filmed like, but it's better than this bullshit you listen to and look at with these so-called artist today.

I could not have said it better. But Prince has already done the "line in the flesh" concert videos - the very first live video was like that. So was the Lovesexy concery video. I am sure something a little different was the goal this time. There was an attempt to stylize the show a bit and I dont think it takes away from the performance. I saw a couple of One Nite Alone gigs and I think that is a fairly accurate representation of the real live show.

The dvd was meant to be 'lower quality' it was intended to give a "lo-fi" style to it - no accident - they could have made it the same quality as 'rave unto the joy 2000' quite easily but chose otherwise

A little too slick and too much Gary Graham imo
But it has some nice moments One a scale of 1/10 i'd give it a 7

Glad to see this dvd finally getting some props! It was trashed like crazy around here when it first came out.
The ridiculousness of editing down the full concert aside, I found this dvd a lot more fun to watch than say "Rave", which annoyed the heck out of me with all of those quick cuts (to disguise the fact that not much was going on). The lighting on "Aladdin" was execellent; there weren't nearly as many moments where performers stepped into dark spots as on the earlier videotaped shows. The director/editor missed a few key moments (i.e. the camera is on the wrong person during a solo, or whatever, but show me one dvd/video where that hasn't happened. And I'm not including "Sign O' The Times" because many shots in that movie (although I love it) were staged and then edited to perfection. Plus, and I think someone touched on this, I love the look of this show on film...and you can include the Detroit "Parade" show and "Sign O' The Times here...these filmed shows just look so much better that videotaped ones, IMO. And all of the music featured is really great! One small annoyance: the lameness of making "The Ride" a seperate 'bonus track' when it was part of the same show, and could have easily just been placed on the main program.
