I hope Prince does more to help

I sincerely hope that Prince does more than offer the proceeds from the sales of his cyber singles to help the survivors of hurricane Katrina. This is the most devastating natural disaster in our lifetime that has occurred on U.S. soil. Everyone should do what they can to help, but obviously, the filthy rich should give a substantial amount. My $25 is probably equivalent to $1 mil from these multi-million dollar folks. It's time to see some real "love for one another" from Prince.

Before you bash me, I have been a devout Prince fan for more than 20 years.

If you make $30,000 (just picked a random number) a year your $25 is equivelent to 1.2 billion dollars a year for a million dollar donation via percentage. Obviously you will need a greater percentage for bare necessities but I don't see anyone telling you to give away 20 percent of your networth which would be what you are asking the wealthy to do if they say have $5,000,000 in assets. So I'm just saying that unless you only have $125 in total assets before your donation perhaps you shouldn't be talking.

It's pretty easy to give away other peoples money and being a fan for a long time doesn't offer you the right to spend his money.

I would add that if a celebrity makes pleas for you to donate then you have the right to question their own financial donation but I don't think Prince offering a product and giving away the proceed counts.

Well, the thing is, you really have no clue as to what way(s) Prince might be helping out or contributing to the Hurricane Katrina survivors, or to any other charity.

Unlike self-important publicity seekers like that windbag Sean Penn, Prince has never been one to promote his own charitable works. People might learn of some of Prince's charitable affiliations because he requests concertgoers to bring items donate to food pantries, or he lets people know that the proceeds for SST are going towards hurricane relief efforts..but he doesn't advertise his contributions in total, nor does he feel the need to document and publicize what he gives or donates in the name of charity.

I just don't think you can demand that you want to "see some real "love for one another" from Prince.", as though he's NOT doing 'enough', when in truth you DON'T KNOW all the facts of what he's done or given, or how much Prince may be giving or contributing. And really -- it's nobody's business but Prince's.

I, for one, think it's wonderful that Prince isn't such a publicity-grubbing whore that he feels the need to show everyone just how generous and wonderful and giving he is, like some celebrities do, and instead keeps that kind of stuff private. I believe that when Prince gives to a charity or an organization, he's doing it purely because he WANTS TO HELP, and not for any ulterior, selfish reason.

First of all, Prince is worth well more than $5 million, so your basic math does not apply here. Also, I said filthy rich, which is a relative term. If you think that $5 million is filthy rich than we are definitely not speaking the same language. Also, as a recent graduate with $36,000 in school loans and other medical debt from an unfortunate accident, my net worth is negative. So for your information, my $25 is a HUGE donation for me, in addition to the clothing, diapers, feminine hygiene products and food that I am donating. All I said was that I hoped Prince and others who were better off than most of us, based on the money that we've spent to support them, would be benevolent in these trying times.

PrinceOscar

He donated $37,000.00 to the Town of Princeville in NC when they were basically wiped out from hurricane Floyd. It was a much smaller town of course.

agree i mean who are we to suggest that Prince gives more then he has already has to help those victims out. to say that he needs to give more sounds pretty ignorant dont u think?? i think that hes giving more them us put together. personally i think thats is cool of him to even donate proceeds from his songs to the Hurricane Katrina victims. i mean its not how much a man gives its the fact that hes giving from the heart thats my opinion. so give Prince a break man.
