3 Chains O Gold

I just saw a clip of this over at another site. My question is, is this like a long music video, or an actual mini movie.

Thanks

It's kinda both. It was originally intended to be a visual representation of
the story of the album, with videos made for every song plus a number of segues.
In the end though, Prince never finished the project, so the final product is
only about 3/4 of what was intended.

I never understood why he released it the way he did with edited versions of the songs, that story which doesn't make sense & all... apart maybe in the purpose of getting on WB's nerves by having 'em releasing a piece of shit...

The only good thing about it is that outtake, "The Call" with its beautiful orchestral intro, by the end of the movie...

The 3 Chains Of Gold video was eventually released summer 94 if i remember well, waaaay after all interest in the O+> album was lost by the general public.

Before the TRC debacle this was Prince's most embarrasing moment.

"give back the chains!"

Not sure, but possibly because of trouble with WB. The Undertaker & The Sacrifice Of Victor were meant 2 b released inb 1993 under the name "O+>", & ended being released in 1995 under "Prince".

I like the 'Three Chains O Gold' video compilation. It tries to explain the storyline of the album, with big, lavish videos. It's actually more entertaining than 'Graffiti Bridge' but that's not saying much,is it? lol

My only complaint is that many of these videos are edited.Wtf?

I wondered the same thing. This should have been released in early 1993,around the time of the 'Act 1' tour.It could have been an excellent promotional tool for the album and the tour.Where's the logic in releasing it in the summer of 1994?
