I think he probably regrets giving it to Warners in the end
as one of the albums to complete his contract. Or maybe he doesn't. I know that I would have given them an album, any album to just get the hell away. After things on the WB front calmed down and he was "free", I think he may, or may not have thought twice about TheBlackAlbum again and figured he might have given them something else instead. Who knows. It's hard to say what he feels about most of his albums, let alone this particular one which he kept verrrry hush about in the first place. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Giving the Black Album 2 WB may have been very intentional. Think about it... he knows how well that album was bootlegged and how all of his die hard fans and thensome had it already. So how much $ could have WB have made off of it's release , coulda been his little jab at WB. Other than that I don't think he has any type of regrets towards his past work.

I guess he probably side-lines it along side suff like Sister, Head and Lady Cab Driver in the 'stuff I used to do, now I don't because I'm with the JoVo's'.

I think the almost mythological status of the album actually helped to get Warners to agree to him serving his contract by giving Warners the albums they needed and simply moving on before the contract was up. Think about it, they might not have been too keen on the idea of Prince walking out on them, and simply leaving them with 4 albums they could release as they'd see fit in years to come whilst Prince went off and did his own thing. So in a way, I think by offering them "The Black Album" as one of those contractual obligation albums, they kind of figured they had certified gold in their hands since the album was by then probably the best known bootleg in history. However, the fact that is was released as a limited edition seems quite odd to me. Since, why release such an album as a limited edition only?? It was available for 1 month or something, wasn't it? So that would be in direct conflict with what I said before about Warners figuring they would make big money off it since they coulda milked the album for the years to come. The more you think about his contractual obligation/way out of it, the weirder and muddled the whole deal gets. I would love to know what they all agreed upon to get him away from WB. Like who owns the Gold Experience masters, or the other albums that he gave to them. And are they all he gave to them? What else was offered? How much money did he walk away with? Or did he have to pay?? There are so many questions. I'd love to know. damnit. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
