What 5 guitar solos would you use to convince a hardcore music-lover...

But one who is not so wise in the ways of our good man Prince; he is curious, but argues that Prince is not a guitar player. Oh ho ho, my friend, let me go to the org, and just ask, what 5 solos would you use to show off P's legendary work on the guitar? I know when my boy hears it, he aint gonna have a word to say, and I know my people hear on the org know their Prince solos like the back of their hand...

In fact, rethinking this....

1+1+1=3 (live)

Just My Imagination (Small Club)

The Truth (Title track from The Truth)

Endorphinmachine (Album version)

Sweet Thing (Live Cafe De Paris '98 with Chaka Kahn)

This will showcase a wider variety of guitar skills than my previous, guitar solo orientated-list. Remember- there's much more to being a great guitar player than busting off fast moving solos

video (taped from the broadcast) of While My Guitar Gently Weeps...

Also there's a bootleg of him rehearsing for a european tv appearance, and they are playing '94 era stuff like tape loops of the beat from NOW, and Aknowledge Me (I think) and he starts to solo on his guitar for Mayte, and it gets intensely intricate... and no one was watching him....

While My Guitar Gently Weeps.....nuff said. Show him the tape cause just listening doesn't do it justice. He whips the shit out of the guitar and just throws it in the air at the end for Takumi to catch and walks off.....soo damn cold.....

The above posts have some great solos... don't really have much to add there.

But I think the best song that demonstrates his guitar skills (overall, not just soloing) is "Electric Chair"... very unique sounding song.

Great rock guitar riffs: I'm Yours, Bambi, Let's Go Crazy, Endorphin Machine (I'd prefer this without that keyboard playing the riff with the guitar)

There are plenty others... but for me Electric Chair is #1 for guitar.

In no particular order...

I'm Yours
Bambi
777-9311
When Doves Cry
Computer Blue
Purple Rain ('85 AMAs ONLY)
Temptation
The Cross (Dortmund Lovesexy Show)
Anna Stesia
Just My Imagination (Small Club)
Joy In Repetition
Live For Love (Original Version)...

The list can go on and on, and even though I don't care for the song, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" would have to be included.

Peach--has a really cool creative solo, but not exactly hardcore.
Purple Rain--Probably the best.
Rainbow Children--if he can appreciate jazz
Digital Garden--if he can't.
Sensual Everafter
Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad
East--Most of NEWS for that matter.
