I'm asking this because Prince is so influenced by the man.

Watching the Purple Rain era shows, and Alladin, the dancing influence is clear; not 2 mention chicken-grease, the Brown type rhythm guitar.

James Brown quote: "I see more of Little Richard than myself in Prince."

Could it b that James is against Prince's effemininity (Little Richard link) or what?

A good example of Prince dancing like James is 'Baby I'm A Star' special edition version. DAMN he and the REVOLUTION tore that song MFunkin' UP ya'll

There's nothing in what James Brown says here, or elsewhere, (or indeed what he has not said) that either suggests that he doesn't dig Prince or that he opposes any effemininity in Prince.

Yeah, Prince has become much more James-like lately. But the first time I say Little Richard films--banging on the piano--he looked just like Prince to me, especially the PR era hair. Perhaps it's the playing of instruments that likened him to Richard more than JB. I know JB plays keyboards, but you don't really see it.

Honestly I've never really heard James talk about any musicians other than himself. Richard loves to talk about other musicians and how they are all offspring of his genius.

There was a James brown concert in the early 80s where James namechecked all the contemporary performers he thought were "out of sight" and Prince was among them

A couple of months ago a Belgian journalist (Serge Simonart, a Prince fan by the way) interviewed James Brown and asked some questions about Prince. I don't know the exact questions anymore but JB definitely appreciates Prince!

I see more of James Brown than Little Richard as far as the music goes.

A friend of mine met him in a cafe in Holland and JB mentioned admiring Prince's wig. Only from a distance mind.

I saw interviews from 1982 with James Brown saying good things about Prince.
