Interactive/Endorphinmachine VH1 Honors '94

I was watching an old clip of this performance the other day and I had completely forgotten how powerful and bad-ass it was(and how good Mayte looked in 1994 drool ) . Prince is killing the guitar and the band is on ridiculously on point. I love how he opens with Interactive and kills the guitar lines with an "F U" attitude and effortless cool. When they roll into Endorphinmachine, after the brief NPG Operator intro, the performance is taken to another level. He really should have coupled those songs on The Gold Experience because they work so well together. Furthermore, I loved the energy of the NPG at that time. Prince was going thru his spat with Warners, so they had this "I don't give a fuck" attitude that permeated the music. I also loved the edge in his music in the Gold era.The stripped down/earthy feel gave the music a rawness that is sorely missing from his current work. Last but not least is the joy of watching the crowd's reaction during that show. Everyone was standing with high anticipation and Prince proceeded to blow them away with new material. Great Prince T.V. moment!

This performance is probably the single thing that converted me to utter Prince fandom.

I love this performance. I used to have it taped, but lost it, along with a bunch of other VHS tapes in a move.

I remember wincing when Kirstie Alley fought laughter as she held the Symbol up on a card to introduce Prince, but I soon opened my eyes wide as Prince just destroyed the stage. Excellent performance. And that gargling scream at the end? Damn.

I LOOOOOVE this performance. I watched this on my bed in my room and I was just in awe of how he had the crown in his hand and how great the music was. I was soooo ready for the new album when it was over. I miss that period.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Never seen it, was it anything like the "Peach" performance from the EVMA's the same year? Any photos?

There's a copy of it here: http://www.jdonnellyjr.com/prince.htm

Also, speaking of "Peach", that Japanese cartoon that uses Peach is pretty darn funny.

This is the performance which changed my whole perception of Prince, actually. Before, I felt he was a washed-up 80s relic and couldn't care less about this fading star's attention seeking daftness and cheesy spangly pop mush.
Then, stumbling by chance upon this footage, I realised, fully and wholly, instantly and hilariously, that this being was a magical boy-girl-space-pixie, furious, pissed off, cerebrally sexy and unfathomly beautiful. I didn't even equate prince with the frilly pouting song and dance man who sang Purple Rain and Kiss. That screaming thing plastered in make up and mascara was the coolest fucking thing that 14-year-old kid had ever seen. And probably still is. Except for jiggly boobs.

I was there. I don't recall how a few of us fans ended up getting tickets, but we were 3rd row. We all decided to wear black and white, and what a trip when Prince and Mayte came out in black and white!

Before Kirstie, could even finish her introduction, we started screaming -- the band had appeared on stage, and we couldn't wait! That was a fabulous performance, and I remember how EndorphineMachine ROCKED. I think the entire audience on the floor ended up standing during the entire performance because we shot to our feet when the band appeared and refused to sit down. And once the song started, you COULDN'T sit down. The band tore into that song, and just ripped it.

If you look real careful at the video, you will see this big feather waving down front in the audience. That was one of the fans in the group wearing this outrageous hat.

"Hey, what's this one song sh*t?", Billy asked in Purple Rain. Well, one song was all we needed that day. That performance is one of my favorite memories.

Oh my god, that site is great. What freakish videos. I'd think I'd like to have the "Same December" video stricken from my brain permanently. I'm actually glad I never saw any of those before I grew to like the songs.
