Most folks around here wont admit to liking it because there is rapping in it.
I dig it though (Insert something clever here)

Scrappy Doodles didn't sound nothin' like Ice Cube. I like Da Da Da when Prince comes in, but I hate the beginning of it. Crap Doodoo was one of the worst rappers Prince ever gave work to. "Yo I'm goin' for the gold like an olympic sprinter, fuck the bullshit, steaks for dinner this winter." *shivers* At least Tony M. really wasn't trying to sound hardcore like Scooby Dooby.

Actually the kid was a decent MC....Now Tony M and TC Ellis on the other... hand....

"Yo I'm goin' for the gold like an olympic sprinter, fuck the bullshit, steaks for dinner this winter." *shivers* The only reason I ever listen to it (about once a year) is for hearing Prince on it. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I like it when prince comes in. The part before that is just terrible! "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

I like that song...has a very positive, uplifting feel to it, I also like the production on it, not all Kirky-J era songs are bad.
The rapper is so so, he´s not really great on that song, but a million times better than Tony M or TC Ellis...those might be nice personalities, at least that´s what I heard about TC Ellis, but Scrap D was more of a true MC. His raps on Chaos and Disorder and Emancipation might not be that great, as an old school HipHop head I agree, but he´s really not that bad, and at least Prince tried to showcase a local rapper, gotta give him credit for that. I talked to him in September ´96 before Emancipation came out and as a person he´s really cool, we also talked about TonyM and other stuff. At least he´s giving local MCs and DJs a chance...sure he could pick other talents than those ( or DVS ...baaaahh). Better don´t use any rappers at all...his own rapping is kinda OK on some tracks, I like the old versions of Now and Days Of Wild . " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I dig it though I actually quite enjoy Prince's attempts at rapping but this song just doesnt do it for me. he's trying to sound too "hard" in it in my opinion and something about Prince being tough and hardcore just doesn't work If you will, so will I

What I like about the song is that the music has a really cold, isolated feel that captures the sense of alienation expressed in the lyrics. A very underrated tune, imo.
