HELP PLEASE >> My Prince Collection I'm a hardcore fan and was going through my collection and was wondering what I may be missing that I really should have... I'm trying to get as much as humanly possible currently. What am I missing that I need now?

Well, looks like you have all the albums.
The singles, well you can find a discography no doubt for the CD singles you're missing, then of course all the vinyl singles (if you're bothered about them). Vinyl singles discography: http://sleevographia2.fre...raphia.htm Good singles discography: http://www.theprincepages...cemenu.htm The Slaughterhouse The Chocolate Invasion They're both NPGMC compilation albums, 99% made up of material from the NPGMC year one downloads, some of which was intended for the album High, 2000 era. If You Feel Like Dancin' is from pre-For You, 94 East was Pepe Williams' band, Prince and Andre played on a couple of tracks, the 94 East album has been released, and re-released many times, should be simple/cheap enough to find. Now, you're missing all the related artists albums, IMO, they are as much as part of the Prince canon as the albums released under his own name(s). Vanity/Apollonia 6, Jill Jones, Sheila E, The Time, The Family, Madhouse, Ingrid Chavez, Carmen Electra, NPG, Mayte, Mavis Staples, Eric Leeds, etc, etc. Then, there's the stuff by these people, and their members, and their proteges, and ex-band members that has no (or very little) direct Prince involvement, but is worth getting, if you like that kind of music (which you probably will, since you like Prince) - Like Mazarati, Jesse Johnson, Morris Day, Vanity, Apollonia, Ta Mara & The Seen, Wendy & Lisa, Andre Cymone etc, etc. A Prince fan's work, is never done [Edited 8/20/05 4:08am]

You haven't downloaded Xpectation yet! Plus there are various other downloads you haven't listed - the Bataclan live singles, etc.
Definately need to get the NPG albums - Gold Nigga and Exodus.

I would hardly rush out to get those. Those could be at the very bottom of your list if you need to throw some money away. If you like Prince then skip these, they do say NPG on them, which is what you will get. "

Despite the much maligned Tony M. singing on Goldnigga, it definately has Prince's sound all over it. Whereas Exodus has Sonny T. singing in exactly the same way Prince would sing it, in fact he is often heard in the mix, and again it has Prince's production all over it, doing a Funkadelic sort of grungey funk sound. Despite the over-long segues, it's still a great, funky album.

You could look for all the bootleg songs, some being masterpieces of the highest.
The 12 inch extended singles are great. The long version of Girl is a must have. Elexa de Paris is amazing. You don't seem to have the Scandalous Sex Suite. For Sex alone. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Definately need to get the NPG albums - Gold Nigga and Exodus. I agree. If you have Newpower Soul, then you need the other two NPG albums first since they have the most Prince involvement. Then find both Madhouse albums as they too are pretty much Prince albums under another name. Then go and find every release on Paisley Park or credited to Jamie Starr. After you are done with those we can get you started on bootlegs!

Here's a complete album discography including "video albums" & albums released under other artists' names but actually entirely or almost entirely recorded by Prince, there4 being able 2 b considered as Prince albums.
The chronological order is more a recording order than an actual release order. Of course there r a bit more than 500 non-album tracks (remixes, b-sides, soundtracks songs, songs given 2 other artists, internet releases) that u need 2 get in order 2 have the whole thing (been a fan since 1989 & i still wasn't able 2 find a few rare remixes of songs given 2 others, but thanx 2 p2p's i eventually got 99% of these tracks, good luck in ur treasure hunting ) 1977 94 East Featuring Prince Symbolic Beginning 1978 Prince For You 1979 Prince Prince 1980 Prince Dirty Mind 1981 The Time The Time 1981 Prince Controversy 1982 The Time What Time Is It ? 1982 Vanity 6 Vanity 6 1982 Prince 1999 1984 Sheila E. Great list!
I usually only count 32 albums when I'm going through my Prince stuff. You did leave have one serious omission however: Girl 6 which included three brand new Prince tracks. I notice you also didn't include The Very Best of and what about the When Will We Be Paid download? Then theres 1999 the new master & the Beautiful Experience, both EP's and Martika's Kitchen or whatever it was called. Oh and I'm pretty sure there was a live video of Sheila E's Romance 1600 where Prince did a long duet on A Love Bizzare. "Let's knock down that oak tree and make a Wooden Leg out of it" I have that one taped off the tv somewhere in the attic. My dear old dad taped over half of my Prince and the Revolution Live and my Lovesexy '88 cos I never labeled my videos. [Edited 8/30/05 4:17am]

[Edited 8/30/05 4:17am] As i said it's only an "original albums" list : i didn't include The Very Best & Girl 6 cuz they're more like "compilations" 2 me, with little or no unreleased stuff (i've only included The B-sides cuz its material was never compliled b4 as an "album", & placed it in 1989 cuz the latter tracks on it r from 1989). The other stuff u mention is singles, cyber-singles or maxi-singles, which is why i didn't mentioned them either. The Sheila E. concert, though containing mostly songs composed by P ain't a P album 2 me since it was arranged & played by Sheila & her band. P only appears on the great "a love bizarre" jam @ the end of the show. Same with Martika's Kitchen & also "The Voice", "Sheila E.", Ingrid Chavez' album or "Pandemonium" : only half or a third of these albums r by Prince, so they cannot b considered as Prionce albums as a whole. All this is kinda subjective, though, since the concept of what an "album" is varies from a person 2 another.

They never were released 4 sale 2 the general public. Since they were released by Paisley Park, Per Nielsen consider them as "official" releases, though, so i do too. I guess very rare Paisley Park promo-VHS circulate amongst collectors from time 2 time, & lotsa people have TV recording of 'em. The Parade Live is easy 2 find on p2p's, the Live In Tokyo is harder 2 get.

I love US comic books & particularlu Marvel & DC stuff. Howard is amongst my faves cuz of its ironical tone & its social points of view, very original 4 a 70's Marvel comic-book. Mad comics were not translated a lot in France, while Marvel has been very popular here since the 70's. 4 some sad reasons, DC never was as popular as Marvel, & french readers missed a lot of great DC stuff.
